Yes, I played it once through back when it was released and it was a decent run & gun romp. The same devs had previously made Giants: Citizen Kabuto and IMO Giants was a better game overall. Seeing a near mint boxed copy sitting on a shelf in a dark corner of a thrift store wasn't going to happen on my watch. 😀

I also found an estate sale reseller who has two warehouses full of stuff and there was so much piled a mile high that I will be going back next week to sift through more. Might be some goodies in the miles of manmade mountains of the forgotten.

As a backup for my only ET4000 I got hold of another one. It works fine so far, but it exhibits video snow or noise in games that use color cycling. E.g. Pinball Fantasies or the Loonies game of our fellow Vogon thp. Example of the snow:

I am wondering if this is a defect, a limitation of the RAMDAC, the RAM or a general problem. My Trident cards and the other ET4000 do not exhibit this problem (or not in this intensity).

Was Sonic really that great on the Master System? It was sure the bees knees on the Genesis, but I don't remember seeing it on the older platform.

Got some really nice stuff in the mail yesterday.

I honestly think these items are in the BEST physical condition of any PC components I own. Seriously, they are completely immaculate. If I had to guess, I'd say they were carefully removed from their package, installed, used lightly, removed carefully, cleaned, then stored in anti-static bags for 20 years. I have never seen components as old as these with NO scratches or any marks or dust to be seen.

The reasons I bought this lot:
Canopus Pure3D 6MB Voodoo Graphics
Canopus Total3D Verite 4MB V1000-L
Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16
Creative CT6700 Riva TNT 16MB PCI
... and there were several other cards, including a pair of STB Velocity 4400 AGP cards in immaculate condition, a PCI ATI Rage Pro Turbo, SCSI cards, network cards, modems... and all but a few have absolutely NO scratches. I mean it. look at these pictures...

I just tested the Total3D and it works perfectly! The 2D output is fantastic. I ran my CRT at 1024x768 @ 100Hz with this card and it was buttery smooth and very clear. I have an interesting item on the way right now that may allow me to get more out of this particular card... but there isn't much information about it, so I don't want to say anything until I've actually tried it. 😀

I'm selling a whole bunch of old ADB keyboards and mice, and I'm tired of booting up my old G3 testing ONE keyboard, and doing a full shutdown and reboot to test another. This will make it so it's silly easy to test before I ship.

Yes, I know I can just unplug the keyboard while the machine is running, but seriously screw you if you were even going to suggest it. It isn't worth blowing up the adb port on any machine to do this. Same goes for ps/2 or AT connections.

They are collectors items. Any TNT2-Ultra's that I have seen, performs equally. Same speed, same image quality.
It is just the build quality, that seems a bit better on Diamond cards in general.

Today I recieved that Sony SDM-X95K monitor that I bought. It has build in speakers, and can display a 50hz image. I bought it specifically to be able to use my ScanPlusECS. Still display tiny spaghetti lines (vertical scanline-like lines), though fiddeling with clock and other settings nearly eliminates it. It has two inputs, one VGA and one DVI and each has its own speaker input. The lines are not that serious. I have seen MUCH worse, using a CL-5422-ISA.

Got this nice Dual PPRo (Intel 440FX) Board from eBay:

Unfortunately wasn't working correctly. Seller told that the BIOS is sluggish and booting not possible.
Ok, changed battery and noticed that the RTC did not work. Also, ATX power control was stuck.
Changing 32.768kHz oscillator didn't help. So it has to be the IO-controller itself.
Ordered one from poland and soldered it in. Took only 15 minutes.
Et voilá - Board is back to life!

So it was time to give this board the maximum memory the chipset can handle, a whole gigabyte!

Currently i'm figuring out whether i should use it as a single CPU Win98-Machine with a Voodoo2 or go SMP with 2K Pro.

I would go SMP Windows 2000 with Voodoo 2 SLI.

Here's another board (Socket 7, Via MVP3) where i replaced the Multi-IO, too. The old one was burned, don't know why. Cheap board from ebay

If you are curious, here's a video of me doing the repair. Unfortunately, the camera lost focus for some minutes until i noticed.
On this particular IC i soldered the pins individually, no big deal, just takes some more time but with sharp eyes you can be sure there are no solder bridges and you don't have to wick it afterwards.
