How much did that set you back?

I too have never seen one of these in a box. I generally don't collect boxed items because of the extra storage requirements.

The AT case with mystery insides arrived the other day. I'll post pics of the insides this evening.

I was originally planning on using the case for an build using an ASUS P5A-B and K6-III+ 450 but....

The motherboard is a SIS based PCI/ISA Socket 3 board and the CPU is an AMD 5x86-133. 😀 Both of these I was wanting but not wanting to spend what people were asking.. especially for a PCI/ISA 486 board.

So now I will probably just leave the motherboard and CPU in there.

Finding AT cases for a decent price is such a hassle. 😒

Edit: pics of the motherboard below.
It is a Jetway J-446a V2.0

Manual shows it supports up to 50Mhz FSB.. but there are a bunch of jumper combination settings for the FSB jumpers that are not used... hmmmm. I think I may have to do some experimenting. I'll probably look up thew datasheet for the clock generator and see what it actually supports.

The Turbo function can either be controlled by a turbo switch/jumper or with a key combination.

Looks to be a really interesting board.

When it arrived, the CPU was all the way out of the socket and some of the pins were bent. The RAM was also dislodged and I had to reseat all the cards. Also had to reattach the one com port to the back of the case because it was missing both lugs.

The CD-ROM drive will not eject, even after opening it with a paper-clip and then having it close with the button. Not sure if it is worth taking the cover off to try to fix it.

The stick of RAM that came with it seems to be bad as it would just give me a constant beeping like there was no RAM installed.

The video card and sound card are both ExpertColor branded.
The video card is an S3 Trio/Virge and the sound card is Opti 931 based. The other card is a modem.
HDD is 2.1GB which will be replaced with a CF card.

It boots to Windows 98 with nothing at all interesting on it. Just a plain install and a couple games.. Some Barbie Game and a Thomas the Train game. I'll probably poke around a bit more before taking the drive out.

Got this for 5€ plus shipping. Probably not the best sound card, but for that price I won't complain...

Suposedly this one should also be Win 3.x-compatible (if I can find the drivers; this is the Windows 95 version). Bought to replace the PCI version I bought for my NEC machine that didn't fit due to the NEC's PCI slot and case spacing being off. Although I now will have to sort out the cable mess in that machine...

It uses a regular Intel 82365SL PCMCIA chipset, all you need for it in DOS/Win3.x is Cardsoft Card and Socket Services and CardView, which you can probably find anywhere, except on the product page:
http://www.ratocsystems.com/products/subpage/5051.html

get the drivers at http://files.mpoli.fi/hardware/SETUP/OTHER/SYSSOF31.ZIP
or at support.advantech.com.tw/support/Downlo ... e=Download
The latter link doesn't include Cardview though, in case whatever card you want to use needs it to work in Win3.x

I have the external version of it, it works fine:

You successfully avoided the 4235 chip with the buggy FM synth. This card should be very good.

4236 is a good Crystal chipset with a very pleasant and different OPL3 clone, warm sounds, timbers etc sound amazing on it but its bass is pretty meh. I personally like it, but prefer ESFM. Its better than CQM and ALFM though.

Most of my AT cases cost 25€ each plus shipping (buying 4 at a time works out just over 30€ each shipped) from Amibay. There are still a few on their if you search recent posts. They all came with PSU and FDD, some also have CDROMs.

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.
