Received an MT-32 today. Wasn't sure of the version as I hand't looked up the differences.

Got it for around half of the low end that they normally go for.

But it turned out to be the old version with the rev 0 board. Serial 823869. I opened up to double check as the serial number tag is taped on.

Yay!

My MT-100 will cover the new version MT-32.. so now I have both.

Think I have all the external Roland devices I "need" now.

MT-32 old (rev 0 board)
MT-100 (MT-32 new with sequencer)
MT-120 (SC-55 -ish I think with sequencer)
MT-200 (SC-55 -ish with sequencer)
MT-300s (in between the SC-55 and SC-88 if I remember correctly with sequencer and stereo speakers). This one actually gets used almost every day in my kids' room.
SC-7
SC-88 VL

Bought some 256kx16 EDO DRAM chips, 50ns, to upgrade the video memory on an old S3 video card. With 1MB it can only do 1024x768 and 1152x864 at 256 colors... I'm hoping for 64k colors at same resolutions with 2MB. 😀

its a small 486 under a keyboard. Its obviously borked, but I'm super confident I can get her to chooch again.

If you need help finding the BIOS for that system, let us know so that way we can help you out. I believe the BIOS chip was a 1Mb (128K x 8) 28-PDIP, but, I could be wrong. You can also post the FCC ID of the motherboard and we can provide the details about it. How's that sound?

Got a NOS Pentium III 550 MHz with a 100MHz FSB. I was so excited that I could not wait to put it in my AB-BH6 PC. Works like a charm!

Bought one of this kit....
Not exactly the cheapest thing, yet all 68000's were out of stock. Makers of them except one are slow to answer a simple mail, asking when they will do a rerun of the production. So I went the 030 route, and have to settle with 2mb fast memory instead of 8mb fast memory.

It is new hardware, yet it falls into the category of old computers. Only need that darn internal scandoubler for my 600, a kickstart switcher for the 600 (1.3 and 2.05 rom), one scandoubler for the 500 I am restoring and then two replacement Amiga500 Floppy drives. Then my Amiga collection is complete. Yup... I am in for some long term saving now.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

A really clean Radeon 9700 Pro arrived today. Unfortunately, I just threw it on my D850GB test bench and it's exhibiting crazy artifacts. 😵 It was advertised as working and was shipped without an anti-static bag. So I guess this one will be going back. 😢

I got some goodies today, I'll post the pictures later when I receive them.

First is a 486 Socket 2 VLB motherboard marked as 486UL-P101. I can't find the manufacturer, some sites claim ECS made them but there are several variants of 486 boards marked as 486UL; mine is a UMC chipset VLB board with 8x 30-pin SIMM slots and 128K Cache. Probably a not-bad choice for a 486SX/DX/DX2 system. I wonder how it will compare to my Octec Hippo-VL DCA2 board with 8MB EDRAM.

Second is a 512K UMC UM85C408AF ISA VGA. No idea how fast/slow it is. I want to use it with my other UMC 486/ISA Motherboard / U5SX CPU / UMC controller card system to make a full UMC 486 class PC. Because why not.

Hey, that was my idea 😜

I'm planning to open a System Specs topic about it.

As for performance of the UMC VGA: a weird mixed bag. 3Dbench (VGA graphics) is similar to Trident TVGA8900B, so low but not disastrous. But text mode scores are atrocious: you can see things like BIOS screens build up. It's slower than an OTi-037 by an order of magnitude.

Well.. we can have a UMC vs UMC fight if you like 😜

That is so strange, I've seen 286 era VGA cards with very slow text modes but they usually also have terrible video modes. A card you can play Doom on but have trouble navigating the bios is a real oddity.

Holy crap! That AM/FM tuner is already cool, but a boxed VIC20? The Lords of COBOL were smiling on you.

unfortunately they are very rare in good working condition. the non-pro or the 9800pro is easier.
i also wanted to build a 9700pro based computer.

My dog never has that look. He's always jumping around me no matter what I do "Bone! Bone! Gimme! Gimme"
And if I don't, next is one of 2 things:
1. licks my feet, or
2. Sits on my feet. That's 90lbs of dog butt. That hurts.
