I didn't notice about the P4's ISA slots, very nice!
One (or a couple 😁) of those are on my wanted list...just not actively looking for one.

ratfink, I like the P4GAX mobo you've just got. I didn't realise these existed. Is it an "industrial" mobo, because it accepts a P4 CPU, yet it has 2 ISA slots. Very nice. Makes my 1 ISA slot 2.2 GHz 133 FSB system look a bit poor in comparison! I notice there's one on ebay at the moment, but the price is high.

Yes it's an industrial motherboard, the seller had this one and a new one. I haven't done much with it yet, it fires up but has a completely blank bootup screen, even if you enable it [hoping this is not a sign of anything wrong 🤣]. Must confess I bought it on impulse, kind of OMG I DONT BELIEVE IT BID BID BID but I don't truly have a need for it as my other boxes seem to have my needs covered. But certainly a board like this was on my list of nice-to-have's for a long time but they cost so much normally.

I think this gets rebadged by secondary players so for example may be the same board as a "zeiss" which just has a bios splash screen added.

What I have noticed on this board is rather cheap-looking caps, I'm not sure if they are going a bit off either.

The agp slot is 4x, looks like 1.5v only. I think the manual says it's DD compliant if I have the right term, so I was worried it might not be a proper agp slot but the seller assures me he used it with a matrox g400. I find that aspect of industrial boards [whether the agp slot is a real one] a bit confusing.

Would be interesting to find out in how much it's ISA slots work with the ISA cards we intend to use here.

L O L 🤣

I admit, I don't "go for" boxed items, but the 1.5 was my very first sound card ever. I got it locally, off the grid from eBay and other sites and just had to have it, so to speak.

I also got the 5.25" HDD bay, which I will use for my CF card. The 486 case is built in such a way, that it's very messy to route the IDE cable to one of the back slots, so I was looking for something from the front.

There are 3.5" CF card readers, but they are quite pricey, so I got one of the 5.25" ones, as they are very cheap.

Will take pics and mount it later today...

Got this for cheap. Like 10 bucks shipped, and it's perfect for being able to swap CF cards if needed.

I a CD Drive in there as well (IDE), but the BIOS didn't show anything. Maybe it doesn't support IDE CD drives.

So I could finally pack it all up. But now I realise that for quick testing this 486 isn't ideal, as it's a bit of an effort to take it apart.

Looks like my SS7 system will still have use 🤣

Pretty much every system of that era I've dealt with didn't have an option for CDROM in the BIOS, so just leave it set to NONE, load the DOS CDROM driver and it should work anyway.

I've had troubles with 80-wire IDE cables in older system like the one you have in that caddy, I think it'll "magically" work with an old-school 40-wire cable 😉

Harddrives and cd-rom drives were not "seen" by the BIOS/drivers or the system froze during POST
Same thing can happen on Amiga 1200 and Amiga 4000 computers.

Omg, what a difference from my SB box! I found my SB box in the curve of a road without anything else in it. Since it was a SB 1 box I decided to keep it, despite it didn't exactly look like new 😜

Pics to follow...

Yea it's in amazingly good condition.

I have an issue with Prince and Persia. I had this before and one day it just worked.

It's regarding the Game Blaster mode which you launch through prince.exe gblast

It plays FM music and PC speaker effects. And I don't know how it solved itself the last time. One day it just worked for no apparent reason 🤣

All the other Game Blaster games I tried work just as they should...

Maybe some little resistor on the Soundblaster finally burned through 🤣
