Nice, the ultimate VLB card in the 4MB configuration and still sealed. That's quite the find...

I was looking for ones for a long time... but the time has finally come and it also made a big dent in my wallet. But you just can't say no 🤣

It would look lovely next to my PCI version:

Just yesterday I was posting about still not having any 386DX systems and today I came across these so I grabbed them.

In the same post I was whining about not having an A2000 or A3000 so hopefully life sends those my way as well..

Yep. These are pretty nice cards. I have a bunch of different variations of them.

On my day off, I bought yet another Original Xbox system and this time, the version 1.4 for $49.99 + tax at a local thrift store and it came with the A/V cable, power cord, and a Pelican controller wireless receiver in the original box.

I did test it out and removed the clock cap after testing it and it's a lot cleaner than my first Original Xbox.

I like whining too 👍

Don't forget to mod the SB filter on that YMF719 👍

I have 3 YMF719s and I modded none of them, so now I am very curious about this SB filter you speak of..

Turns a meh soundcard into a great soundcard IMO :

Re: Yamaha YMF71x SB Pro Mixer Bug Issue Fix

An easy mod but the layout of cards can be different so you might need to do some minor detective work:

Interesting, I'll look into that and at least try it on one spare card I have.

In other news, my RGBtoHDMI board arrived today..

..so now this is ready to go into my A500.

But I'm not sure whether it will actually replace this or provide any additional benefits, particularly because getting the HDMI cable out of the case requires modding it in some capacity (I can't use the sidacart door, I have an ACA500Plus there).

But maybe I'll end up using both to have deal HDMI out, one for viewing and one for capturing.

Oh, and these also came in the mail, so time to start soldering up some MT32-Pi-MIDI-Hat boards!

I also acquired this Fujitsi P3-1.2GHz laptop a while ago but it had some problems (dead CMOS battery, XP install with 768MB RAM) so I opened it up, gave it a good clean, replaced the CMOS battery, reduced RAM to 512MB and installed Win98SE on it.

Will be installing drivers on the weekend. Apparently the audio codec (Sigmatel C-Major) has Legacy audio support in Win98SE and we'll see how well that works.. It also has i830MG Almador graphics, which I have no clue about, and we'll see how well that actually works as well. If it can run Quake 1/2 I'll be happy enough, I'm not expecting more than a Voodoo 2 out of it to be honest.

423 CPUs don't seem hard to get, though like everything else, slower ones are ten a penny, fastest ones are more sought after. The RAM I think is harder to scare up for reasonable money. I have a RAMBUS system "filed", got given it a few years back when they were in the useless junk phase, kept it together because I thought it would be fun to screw around with "sometime" which hasn't arrived yet. Not sure I'm remembering right but was 2.4 northwood as high as they went??

Edit: Dang, "Mandela effect" moment, I coulda sworn they made some Northwoods for 423, guess it was willies only....

Edit2: Ah okay, an old Compaq P4 SDRAM that was nominally wifey's, so didn't screw around with it too much had a willy, and 2.4 was highest that could take, but I knew where the takeout was and yup it's 1.7 willy 478 not 423.... for the longest time I thought that was a 423 box, derp.

True, I have multiple 423 CPUs and a few RAMBUS RAMs as well. I only need the board though because this is the first 423 board I've seen here in the last 2 years.
This board includes the CPU (1.4) and RAM too and it looks flawless. It's also tested (and I'm tempted).

It's a neat platform to play around with and it makes a great win 2000 system

I also have a 478 with RAMBUS so I could compare the two. Wife's gonna kill me.

But then you need a Pentium III board with Rambus so you can do a full comparison.
