Telstra has a huge list of blocked sites by government mandate but this site shouldn't be on that list ...its very very strange that I cant access it. (By blocked sites I mean sites that no normal person would ever have a legal reason to visit, mostly NAMBLA type of sites, along with terrorist ones, you might have to have seen south park to get the NAMBLA refference)

So the 2 PCs I bought last week arrived and I could finally view all of the contents.
And ehh, I'm glad they were cheap because the parts are unremarkable except for a Zalman flower cooler that should be complete for LGA775 (but I have yet to see if the fan is still working, but usually it is).
Both were 915P chipsetted boards (yuk), one contained 2x512MB DDR2 533 or so (kinda ehh, especially since it's so slow) and the other 2x256MB DDR2 (and this could actually be kinda useful for some 9x rig or something).
ASUS and Fujitsu Siemens board, both have leaking caps around the CPU which is really common to see on boards of that era (and especially with those LGA775 Preshotts).
Graphics cards were X600 and X700, both PCI-e and thus also unremarkable afaict.
One contained a harddrive and another a TV tuner, which I don't see often but is also of limited use.
PSUs also unremarkable, a FSP and a Cooler Master one (the FSP unit is probably a bit better but I haven't looked inside yet so it's just a guestimate).

One odd thing is one contains some kind of 5.25in external expansion thingy with s-out and v-out, headphone out and line-in and mic, some card reader stuff which I never used but was popular back then, 2xusb, firewire and some leds.
It also has some cables sticking out of the back of the case which is also an unusual feature.
Some other odd thing is thjat amongst 2 optical drives, it even came with a standard 3.5in black FDD xD

One reason I did get that case however is because it's a Cooler Master Centurion 5 and even though this one is badly scratched up I love these ATX cases <3

So all in all quite unremarkable, but for around 14 euro each I think the gamble was worth it since both systems were really heavy and had not been raided yet (afaik that is).

I was trying to not use horrible words here, figured that reference was the better of two evils, the south park episode was pretty funny IIRC Chef ended up killing them all.

Back on topic I have a question and I cant decide fully which option would likely provide a better experience, I have the choice of a X-Fi Platinum with the in case IO module or a Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro with the external module, obviously both are stupidly silly sound cards but I want to shove one of them into my Pentium III XP box. The X-Fi should be the better sound card of the two but I have zero idea if its a good idea to stick that card into a Pentium III box, I have no idea what sort of processing overhead the X-Fi card has over the Audigy, I suspect the X-Fi card will want a better CPU to cover processing.

Anyone here have any thoughts or advice on what way to go, the DOS support on the Audigy would be nice for High Resolution DOS games but I dont know how good the DOS support really is.

I was trying to understand DOS support phases.
When Windows 95/98 became a huge thing, I feel like there was a shift on basic DOS support instead of excellent; and a drop of support after XP.
Not science, just a feeling. Could be very well wrong.

Up to windows 98(se), the dos support was quite complete.
Windows ME made some bigger changes to the DOS part and broke some compatibility.

Windows 2000 was Windows NT 5.0 and Windows XP was Windows NT 5.1. There is no DOS. Only a bit more or less of emulation.

Its looking like the X-Fi card will get shoved in there, need to find out how big the processing overhead will be, might have to jump to a Tually.

Thx for the rehost...Might be local security settings blocking because it's not an encrypted connection, your browser is saving your bank account from getting stolen because you absent mindedly type the number into random static images. I'm on chrome right now, but I think Firefox makes it super hard work to visit older non https pages, yes, I'm really really sure I want to visit that link, gah.

Im using chrome but its not Chrome blocking it .. I think its Nod32 doing it even when told to not do that ..cant fucking win with the obnoxious levels of security antivirus comes with now, even when turn off and told to exclude said site.

It doesn't work here, too. Tested with 2 different computers+browsers in different cities with different ISPs. Won't even reply to a network-Ping. But the IP-address is resolved (216.17.81.52).
At this point my network knowledge stops. Sounds more like a region blocking on the server?
