inb4 404 thread does not exist

I would like to see an 2x OPL2 replica board. And an OPL3 + effects board (like Adlib gold).

We already discussed with hard1k possibility to build adlib gold effects daughterboard replica. And get a highres photos from Cloudschatze (big thanks).
So, may be somewhere in future we able to do this.

Well, not bought, but almost retro...
Today I have cooked my Radeon X850 PE Agp (Asus AX850XTP/HTVD/256M/A) in the owen. The card had standard "bad soldering" artefacts since 4 years ago...
Well, now it's ok again.
The only trouble - 1 connector (the berg connector for the external power) was deformed by the temp. But the card have the second one with the standard Molex PATA.

Who i am to say no? 🤣 ... still havent found a Ultrasound/Clone by the way ...

BTW, did somebody know where i can find a CMS chip or a GAL one already programmed?

Bought a few CPU coolers for some "not so retro" projects.

I already have one of these Deepcool coolers: http://www.deepcool.com/product/cpucooler/201 … -12/7_459.shtml

Cheap as chips and compatible with S754/939, but also S775 and newer. $16 sipped, so I got two of them 😀

For Athlon XP / Socket A / Socket 462 it was a bit harder. Was able to find some Arctic Copper Lite from eBay UK: http://www.arctic.ac/worldwide_en/copper-silent-3.html

Also got two of them. They should last me a while and good to have.

And got a cheap as chips ATX case from Aywun, because all my spare cases are uATX and I like one to use for some planned YouTube video build guides 😀

That sounds pretty awesome. But will it be possible to remake only with images?

@Phil: I've got both the Arctic Copper Lite and the Rosewill RCX-Z100. In my opinion the Rosewill is a much better cooler. What Socket 462 build are you working on? I'm a HUGE fan of that platform and would love to hear about it.

Nice one Formulator! Good to see some more Roland gear out there being saved from the recyclers!

I've currently got a 2500+, but got a 3200+ on the way. The Rosewill RCX-Z100 looks very nice! Thanks for the hint. I'll see how I go with the Arctic Cooling and might get the Rosewill in the near future.

The boards I have are based on the KT600 chipset, just playing around with them, might make a video or two about them.

Finally got my first VIA 694T motherboard. I don't honestly know what I'm going to do with it, but I've long wished I had one, and it's a full size board with an ISA slot, so I jumped on it. Up to now my only Tualatin boards were serious business i815 boards that couldn't be tweaked and their RAM limit sucks.

The 694T came with some retro overclocking gear installed. Counter rotating fans! They're shot though, totally useless in their current state. I think they were generally considered a gimmick but it was cool seeing a counter-rotate dual fan gizmo in person.
The heatsink is colored like faux copper. I'm no expert but the color looks off and I think it should be heavier.
The CPU compound is shiny like Arctic Silver (excessive amount, really) in keeping with the period.

Underneath all that the CPU is a 1GHz Coppermine. It makes me wonder if the original owner didn't realize this board could run Tualatins, so he maxed out the Coppermine instead and presumably overclocked it. Feel sorry for that guy, if so. An overclocked Tualeron would have been perfect.

It has bad caps, but it POSTed once. I wanted to establish that baseline before replacing them. Maybe that was a mistake. It locked up in the BIOS setup after about a minute and I couldn't get it to POST again. I will replace the caps, I just hope in that 1 minute it didn't cause more serious damage.

I've got a Z100 on my 2700+. Works great.

I think the RCX-Z100 is the heatsink I have on my nForce2 board w/ an overclocked Athlon XP-M. I was always happy with it. I'm glad to see it's still available.

It might come to that eventually, but I have three Tualeron 1200MHz chips I want to try overclocking first. 😀
My P3-S 1.4GHz is rather permanently epoxied to a heatsink in another machine, I probably won't ever try swapping it out. I could get another, though. Officially the board doesn't support 512KB CPUs, so I guess the VRM might be a little weak.

I love getting old computers like these. Surprise box! What could be lurking inside?
I don't have the time right now to have a detailed look at it, but I couldn't resist taking a peek inside. And with this case badge, how could I say no? 🤣

I spy with my little eye a UMC chipset board with DIP RAM and SIPP slots, a Harris 286-20, Goldstar I/O, Realtek VGA, and a 3.5" full height drive! Looks like a 5.25" floppy and a sound card used to live in here too but were removed. And that thick, shiny steel case, what a beauty. It sure deserves some love! 😀

Nice! Really good finds. Sound Blaster 16 and a cool old AT tower like that one are on my wish-list.

So....i'm going to just post my entire "AT CASE" purchases I've done for the past 3 years or so... All of these were between $5 and $15 each at my local thrift store.

I also have a few Gateway towers I need to take photos of....you can barely see the back of them in the second photo on the right hand side.

Hoard much? And yes, I have a TON of silica gel packets to suck the moisture out of the air to keep these from humidity concerns.

I only have three that I use, and they aren't pictured (they're in my office hooked up).
