Any suggestions on to what type of system this will go well with?
(anything that is not P4 or Athlon)

A Pentium M on a desktop P4 board?

Nope... No P4'ish type of shit for this card. 😁 😁
It's SS7/370 or Slot1 for this card.

Transmeta Crusoe, for that ridiculously imbalanced rig feel!

So, if your card works put on a different cooler or at the very least make sure it is in good contact with the gpu. Using the same hratsink with some paste and a bigger fan will also help bigtime.

Actually what I have considered. I can slaughter a FX5200 for it's cooler 😁
The FX5200 is only in the pile of stuff to sell anyway.

Don't have any transmeta system. What mobo that I do have, is the following:

Gigabyte GA-5AX with a K6-III-400
Asus P5A with a K6-II-500
Intel Intel D815EEA2 with a P3-933 (815-based Socket-370, PC-133-Ram)
Intel VC820 with a P3-500 (820-Based Slot1, PC-800-Ram)

EDIT:
Not going to overclock anything at all. 😀
I am getting some Asus P2B boards in the next month.
P2B-DS and P2B-S. Both with CPU's. The dual has two P3-550's

I bought two new ISA multi I/O controller cards.

They were expensive and the shipping was expensive so I really hope a Vogons member earned the cash. I could not find any better deals though, at least not outside Ukraine and my experience with the Ukranian sellers are so so

They should at least work as they are new 😀

I had first hand experience with that cooler in a service company. The place I worked at had a contract to repair Medion Computers for about 2 years. They used that same style of cooler on Medion ATI Radeon
9800 Pro's. At one point I had a box of about 10 of them that worked but had stuffed coolers. Medion never asked for them back and 9800 Pro's were were selling at around $400 at the time.
All my friends ended up with one (for free of course), and we stuck an 80mm fan on them to fix the problem. It was a nice upgrade from a TI4200 in my 3.1ghz P4 at the time.

I bet if you added a cover over the fins which forced the air to flow through the entirety of the veins, it would cool much better! Now, I want one just to try it.

RacoonRider wrote:

I wouldn't be quick to doubt it. I've had a couple Ti 4200's malfunction because they were hot-running and blew the electrolytic capacitors (and had low-quality caps at that) which I revived by using better electrolytics on one, and the other I used polymer caps, which increased it's overclockability as well. I never kept my 4200's overclocked, but I dinked around with them at the time to see how far they could be pushed, and that's how I realized better scores.

I've had systems which I never overclocked, which suddently ran quick and snappy simply by replacing the capacitors on the motherboard with polys--especially on 478 systems, believe it or not.

I won a really nice AGP card today 😀

Gainward 7800GS+ 512MB Golden Sample "Special edition", new and boxed.

This card could very well be the ultra rare version with the fully activated G71 core but there is no way to be 100% sure. I already have the Gainward 7800GS+ 512MB G71 version with 20 shaders activated but not the version with all 24 shaders activated.

Another Swedish Vogons member was also trying to snipe the card but it wasnt from him I "stole" it as his snipe bid diddnt beat the third bidders bid so no regrets 😀. The card ended up costing ~17 Euro + 8 Euro shipping which I find very reasonable, I will not tell what my "max bid" was...

7800gs_plus.jpg

I don't know if the naming convention changed since then, but a Golden Sample always used to be made from cherry picked cores that were selected for their ability to ship with a factory overclock.

Exactly that same card. Most 9800pro's had 256mb, these were 128mb, or there was some other oddity compared to the standard off the shelf 9800 pro's.
The white connector at top left in Your photo outputted to a backpanel or some other fitment with A Svideo out on it if I remember correctly.
I gave away the last one I had been using, then a few years later one of my friends gave me an original one back which I still have. You are better off mounting
a fan to the heatsink as is. The aftermarket cooler I used wasn't as good at absorbing the heat, resulting in a lower stable overclock.

So clean it took me back to 1991.
Nice find.

Indeed and the seller is a Vogons user as I suspected 😀

I bought another nice item today, a PC-Chips M209 286 motherboard with a Harris 20 MHz CPU, Intel 10MHz FPU and 1MB (640kb usable) memory. The price was fair (I haggled it down a bit) but shipping was expensive, we have cheap shipping in Sweden so I guess thats why I think all international shipping is expensive.

The board isnt in very good shape as the picture shows but as its posting and as there are images from the BIOS setup in the sellers ad its probably fine. It needs to get the battery removed and the corrosion cleaned up but as I see an external battery header that should not be a problem. Now I just hope that the motherboard gets out of Ukraine in one piece

I also need to find someone who is willing to manufacture some 1MB SIPPs using simms as I want to be able to use more memory than 640KB and this motherboard sadly dosnt support using the upper 384KB of the first 1MB. I know that I can use 30pin simm sockets as converters but I cant seem to find a place to buy those.

Nice 286!

Yes, the quality of the PCB seems low but it was/is a very common board so there is lots of information about it online. Its supposed to be rather fast and if I manage to find a 25 MHz Harris CPU in the future the board should be able to handle the speed (with another crystal) from what I have read 😀

If you don't mind shipping to Germany and back, I could solder leads to your SIMMs... free of charge of course.

That sounds great 😀

Soldering on simms are beyond my ability as my hands isnt steady enough, I would just create shorts everywhere.

First I need to see that the board is fully functional and read up on what kind of 30pin 1MB modules it likes best.

The proper solution would be to remove these stupid DIP sockets from the mainboard and place SIMM slots there. It already has the holes for that.

that's a 360kb 5.25" floppy controller right?

I think it would do 720KB also... This is one of the later first controllers. But it doesnt have the logic onboard to do 1.2MB and 1.44 High capacity.

~ At least it can do black and white~

This version of sipp socket really sucks.. Inserting the modules will do with some patience... Removing the modules is really a pain in the ass.. Those with the round holes really works better.
