Thanks all.... Looking forward to fire this baby up.
It was my parents first machine ever, and I learned to compute on this exact machine.
Much old and happy memories are linked to this machine.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

As my last 486 died (Magnavox) I bought an AST Advantage today. Cool OEM desktop: even with CD-ROM and SB16 for $70 shipped. 🤣

Nice, AST's were always among the nicer OEM's, IMHO.

Good to see some more Kyro PowerVR-based cards out there. What are you plans for these tile-based rendering blue beauties?

I never had any of these cards, so it will be a journey of discovery! And I will benchmark them for my Windows 98 SE benchmark project 😀

Sorry, I've had trouble linking from Dropbox (even from public folder). I moved all pics I've posted in Vogons to Photobucket, I hope that solved it.

Sounds good! I knew you had something up your sleeve. 😀 I have a soft spot for these Kyro/KyroII cards, and well... all PowerVR-based cards really. In a market flooded with many, MUCH more popular (and more expensive) cards back in the day, these held their own (except where hardware Transform & Lighting came into play) at a much lower price point.

The 4000XT seems to have a bulging cap directly to the left of the HSF.
Have you checked if this is indeed the case?

I remember one of my own Kyro's had the same issue (can't remember exactly what model it was though, but I still have it somewhere).

I bought another lot a week ago and it arrived today but I have not opened the package yet.

I tried to snipe this lot at the last second to get it cheap but my max bid turned out to be just enough. As long as most of the stuff works it was still decent value for money.

Here is the sellers pictures.

The barely visable Soundblaster 1.0 or 2.0 caught my interest.

There was another image showing a Socket 7 board and some more images showing the HDDs in more detail.

I did also buy a boxed Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold and an IBM Aptiva 486 motherboard from the same seller but these were not included in the lot, everything was shipped together in the same huge box though.

This stuff should keep me occupied for a while.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.
