I am thinking about running Windows 98se on a modern machine.

I want a motherboard that supports Intel Core processors and ISA slots. My concern is that 98se will complain about unsupported motherboard hardware and refuse to work correctly or fully. Also, I see some motherboards only support ISA in "slave" only. Does that mean that sound cards that use DMA like the Sound Blaster will refuse to work in them?

Unless there are modern chipset drivers for Windows98, you may have problems. ISA DMA is another issue too.

There are win98se drivers for nforce2 chipsets (eg. for Abit AN7, but that's socket A and has no isa slots 😵 ).
