i was looking at elianda's soundcard gallery and stumbled upon the SB16 CT2890. Now I was comparing this with the only SB16 I own, the CT2800.

CT2890
main chip: Creative Tech '94; Vibra 16S, CT2504-TCQ (9552)
main chip: Creative Tech '94; CT1705-DCQ (546D)
additional: Yamaha; YMF262-M + YAC512M
additional: 3 oscillators, amplifier ST TEA2025B

CT2800
main chip: Creative Tech '94; Vibra 16S, CT2504-TCQ (9544)
additional: Yamaha; YMF262-M + YAC512M
additional: 3 oscillators, amplifier ST TEA2025B

What is the CT1705 chip doing on the SB16? the CT2800 seems to prove you don't really need it to make a soundcard.

I just noticed silent loon wondered the same thing some time ago
Any Information about SB16 - CT2800?
and the net gives no info on the term ct1705... so this one might just remain a mystery...

Thanks, so I guess one gets no interesting new features by adding in the CT1705.

I expected the CT1705 to be a chip to fix both the midi and SBPro bug, but not really.😉
