I like the idea of having the modem and sound on the same card, would they share the same IRQ or use separate IRQs?

I am also thinking the modem requires a special cable as the pins are in unusual locations on the phone port, 2 lines each on the outer pins and no pins in the middle.

Hey jesolo, thanks for the quick reply. There doesn't appear to be an FCC-ID on the board but there is a sticker on the back with a code "AZSC55010468". I have searched and still have no idea what model it is. I was hoping DOS drivers would exist for it.

Sorry about the image quality, I took 2 more photos...

For the sound card, try one of the 3rd generation sound card drivers (have a look on Vogons drivers or, go to Aztech's ftp site).
Just Google the letters imprinted on the Rockwell chipset. You should be able to find the drivers for those.
Although, you will probably not require then, unless you're planning on using the modem.

I recently added the sound card to a AMD K6-2 build with Windows 98 SE. Like with MrKsoft, it appears as a "Aztech Sound Galaxy Washington 16". It sounds pretty good in Windows but I can't seem to find any DOS drivers for it. 😠

Washington actually seems to be two cards or it has two revisions.
Look at the end of the 18 year old thread above...
Browse thru my driver collection at vogonsdrivers and experiment.

Thanks Jolaes76, the P16IIB-1.ZIP drivers work in DOS as a Soundblaster, strangely most of the DOS utilities that come with it don't detect the card. Who cares, it works! And gives pretty good sound I must say. 😀

Yes, an early Aztech is an almost perfect Blaster substitute for a 286 or 386. Not to mention the configuration save to eeprom and covox emulation. Later models do not keep the emulation but do keep the quality...

I have one question: Does really every Aztech card with the AZT2320 chip have full MPU-401 (UART) interface support via the gameport? I'd like to connect a MIDI USB cable and use MUNT on a second system.

For example what do you prefer, when you would like to play (General-)MIDI sounds, and maybe with the following ISA soundcards?
- Asound Gold (with Avance ALS100+ chip). Not everybody here recommends these Avance cards..
- Aztech Sound Galaxy Pro 16III-3D PnP (with the AZT2320 chip)
- Creative's SB AWE64 (with the EMU8000 chip)

EDIT:
Or maybe as 4th alternative:
- Terratec 16/96 Gold (with ESS ES1868F chip)

This is a difficult question because very few people have ALL Aztech 2320 models to form an opinion. On a hunch, you will be better served with a late ESS card (1688 or 1868/1869) in this respect, but it is just my guess.

Found this card on ebay. Anybody who know's about this Aztech? I cannot see any sign on the chip that it is a AZT1605, AZT2316 or AZT2320.

I think that's a Sound Galaxy 16 Pro Extra. Drivers are here:
ftp://ftp.aztech.com/support/DOWNLOAD/sg/PRO16/
Disks contents are in P16103-x.zip.

Ok, then the Galaxy 16 Pro Extra has no AZT1605? When i have a look on the txt.File (ISA SOUNDCARD OVERVIEW, downloaded here on vogons), the Pro16 II (1st gen) has the AZT1605 and the Pro16 II (2st gen) has the AZT2316R. I'm wanna know more about the properties of this card... at driver's readme files there are no info's.

Well, it has an LS-212 which is an OPL3 clone. The DAC is also a Yamaha clone (LS-215). The actual codec is the CS4231, so the card should do SB Pro and WSS PCM audio. The two big Aztech chips look like the mixer and the CD/SCSI controller.

It'd be cool to find out how it sounds!
