Looks best MIDI player, but the downside is that it's in Japanese.
Does anyone know this MIDI player in english language?
Thank you!

Heh, was searching for that too once, I don't think there is an English version though...

Note that's not of my own doing, but rather from a third-party 😀

Thought that, but gj for sourcing it anyway 😉
I see there are even options for emulating all common modules in there...
BTW, I don't know where I originally got this readme from (as it's not included in the ZIP from MediaFire), but I DO remember emailing the guy that did the translation quite some time ago (so, I must have cobbled up this readme myself).
Anyhow, attached is an English readme, with credits to the translator 😀
TMIDI Player v3.8.6 (Translated English Version)
------------------------------------------------
I complete a translation of TMIDI v3.8.6
(http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA010012,
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA010012/programs/tmidi_3_8_6.exe). Download the
translated version here, http://www.mediafire.com/?qd45n380b0djsw4.
Note that I'm not very proficient at English, so if you have any advice on this
translation, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Here are a few TMIDI tips and tricks written in the original Japanese manual,
translated to English:
1. You can quickly switch and compare different sound modules by using MIDI
Port Mapping.
You can assign shortcuts. For example, assign "Num 0" to "No Port Mapping",
and "Num 1-4" to "Port Mapping 1-4".
And then you can switch different mapping by simplely pressing "Num 1-4".
2. You can double-click on the "Part Level" LCD monitor at the lower-left
corner of the screen to switch from dual-port to single-port view.
3. You can select the default target sound module to let TMIDI to display the
proper names of the instruments.
You can force TMIDI auto-detect the target sound module. TMIDI will then
search for the keywords written in the MIDI file (or corresponding "DOC"
file) to determine which sound module is used while playing the MIDI file.
The auto-detected module will show a "*" mark in front of the module name.
4. You can set the source module currently in use to active the "Emulating"
function.
TMIDI will then emulate the target module based on what you set for the
source module.
For example, the SC-33 lacks the MT-32/CM-64 bank (CC00=127/126). If a MIDI
file composed with these SC-55 banks, TMIDI will change the SC-33 bank to
emulate the SC-55's MT-32/CM-64 bank by using the proper patch-mapping.
5. By single-clicking or double-clicking the left or right mouse button on the
screen's main panel, you can change or switch a lot of MIDI controllers
while playing.
Such as: BPM, Transpose, Channel Mute (left-click)/Solo (double-click)/All
(right-click), Instrument/Bank/Map, Volume, Expression,
Reverb/Chorus/Variation Send, Panpot, Pitch Bend, Modulation,
Sustain/Sosutenuto/Soft Pedal, Vibrato/Filter/Envelope/EQ (click on the
greyed-out "NRPN" in the upper-right corner of the screen, to switch the
panel to the NRPN/Controller editor).
Click and hold the left mouse button, and click the right mouse button (or
clikc and hold the right mouse button, and click the left mouse button) to
speed up the changing of the parameter values.
ENJOY!

Good!
Thnx!
I noticed that this player has the minor issue of not listing some instruments in particular MIDIs, even when properly setting the target sound module. Perhaps the problem lies more with the MIDIs themselves, but I figured that the player I was previously using (and which is named the same... coincidence?) doesn't have the issue, while still being far less sophisticated overall. One commonly known example where I saw this is passport.mid.
I really have no idea what could cause the problem, but I've seen that other MIDI player that you linked to (it's a totally different one, even though it goes by the same name).

Some files display "SMF Format1", while passport.mid (amongst others) shows "SMF Format0". I'm thinking it could be related to that...
Sorry to necro this thread, but that link is long since gone... Does anyone happen to have another copy?
The mediafire link still works.

Hmm 😕 I could have sworn it was down. Thanks for clarifying!
