"All Vortex soundcards are still functional with latest Windows 2000/Windows XP drivers in Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32 bit editions only)."

The last time I checked (which wasn't that long ago) there were no drivers for Aureal Vortex cards beyond Windows ME. Maybe one of you guys with more Wiki cred than I have should go in and fix that.

theres two type device drivers known for win98SE or winME, the VXD or WDM.

the VXD type absolutely wont work on NT system. period.
But WDM type are kinda hit & miss, might or might not work on NT 5.x (x86 only),
though i highly skeptic it would works on NT 6.x even if its x86.

I guess it depends what they call 'functional'. I consider it a bit of a stretch. There are drivers that will allow a Vortex card to produce sound in the newer OSes (Vista and 7 32-bit included), but that's about all they'll do. It's two channels only, no A3D, and I don't believe the control panels and such work either. Basically, none of the interesting features of the cards are supported.
