Hope you get it working. 😎

Something hankypanky going on with the usb-headers/usbpwr -jumpers.

Might involve your PSU too, you need 2A 5V standby to enable those features, to get USB power in standby, former basic ATX spec was only 0.5A/500mA

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

It was worth the effort IMO, but I've just now discovered that they are picky about CPUs. I have a number of Socket A CPUs that I thought would work in this board, but it doesn't support Throughbreds. The Palomino core XP2000 I have won't post in this board - it ought to work, but this was the first time I've tried it, so it may be a bad CPU. The only CPU I have on hand that will work is the Duron.

Edit: After testing in another motherboard, it appears that the 2000+ Palomino is dead and the 2000+ Tbred is fine, which confirms that this motherboard will not work with Thoroughbred CPUs. Heavy sigh.

I'm curious because my P4S Dragon looks close enough to your board that it wasn't until I saw the VIA chips I realized it was 462, does the C-Media chip cause cursor stuttering if you use a PS2 mouse with it? On my board the PS2 mouse port shares an IRq with the onboard audio. Disabling the integrated audio fixes it. Not a big issue now days, but was mildly annoying when I was using a PS2 mouse years ago.

I've not yet built a system with this board; I can't get excited about doing so with only a 700 MHz Morgan Duron, so I'm now shopping for a Palomino 2100+. When I do set it up, I'll try and see. Was OS were you using when this happened?

XP, and would also do the same in 2K Pro.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

I will have to look into that. My testbench PSU is not most optimal, as it has a 24pin (not 20+4pin) atx-connector and only one floppy.

The onboard USB-headers are provided via an Alcor AU9254B01-UES usb-hub. After installing windows, it started stating that one usb port (port1, on the headers) is drawing too much current. Oddly enough, nothing is connected there. The other port, on the same header, works (port1). Ports3-4 do not work at all.
Fiddling around with the USBPWR-jumper was a temporary fix. I assume some jumper-setting will make it draw current from the usb-header to the wrong place.

Too bad there wasn't a schematic on elektrotanya. Board rev is 1.02. Again, time is on a premium so will see when I'll be around to this again 😀
I need to choose a GPU as well. Possible candidates; FX5500 (from my sons K6-2/500), Voodoo3 3000, Radeon 9500 pro, TNT2. Those are the actual cards available. Not counting Rage128, Vanta M64 or similar.
Leaning towards a Win98SE build anyway. I already have a Tualatin-S XP build.

I wouldn't use a 9500 Pro in a day to day build, I think they suffer from the same IHS Shim issue that killed most of the 9700s and 9700 Pros, being that most of them are the same board design and they use the same GPU package.

FX5500 gets you 8-bit palleted textures and is pretty decent for Windows 98. TNT2 Pro can be limiting at higher resolutions for some later Win9x games, Voodoo3 has terrible 32-bit rendering performance and mostly shines in GLIDE (which was very much on the decline by 99/2000)

First time converted 4x1MB 30pin SIMMs into SIPPs.

I have this beautiful 286 board: https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/cdtek-286-turbo
And it requires either chips or SIPPs. It did have 1MB in chips. But now, it is upgraded into 4MB. Crazy amount for 286!

I also have 287 @ 6MHz with it.

There's something weird going on with this board. FDD and everything else works, but it is unable to boot from my 512MB CF card. With floppy boot, i can browse through directories, but if i try to execute any program from "HDD", it's going to fail.
I wonder, if the CF card is somehow incompatible with this board? (Would be first time for this solution)
I tried multiple Super-IO controllers, i tried even XT-IDE - nothing is capable of booting from HDD. 🙁

So serious question, who owns the most GPUs on VOGONs? Im up to around 140 working units.

I have 204; and I consider that light compared to what I think the heavy hitters own. At this point, when something interesting or a deal too good to pass up appears I'll splurge, otherwise I've stopped buying.

Compared to the big guns, yes. I'm betting there are people here who own 1000s.

There's a thread... How many video cards / VGA cards or GPUs do you have? my list might be 15 or so short, moderner stuff and ones I remembered later. Though as I was thinking about more socket 5/7 pentium stuff lately, I realised I am a box of PCI cards astray somewhere, I had more S3, Trident TGUI etc at one point.

Someone who owns thousands would be collecting duplicates at that point.

Yes. Even at 204, I have plenty of duplicates. Don't forget, there are all kinds of variants of the same card. The Voodoo2 is one of the best examples. Throw in SLI, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone around here has 204 Voodoo2s, alone. (I don't)

At current prices 204 Voodoo2s is like sitting on a Gold Mine, just undercut the Evilbay sellers till they drop their prices .. buy them out and relist at a more .....Oil Baron price. Could corner the market for quite a while with all that inventory 🤣, but none of us true retro collectors would ever consider doing such an evil thing.

I have a measly 88, 16 of which are 3dfx cards. I'd consider that a small but sizeable collection. I don't collect anything PCIe though and have been selling off post X800 AGP cards.

I'm not a collector or trying to have any profit from this hobby so what I need to cover my needs + some spares/backups sitting in a box are around 10-15 cards.
I'm sure there are people here who don't know how many thousands they have.
