Played Unreal on a Pentium III 1.1 GHz setup with a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP and played around with the 3dfx driver options. Quite a few settings you can change to make glide games look nicer. Compared the 22 bit and 32 bit options for glide games and did a game play capture in 32 bit. But will settle for 22 bit going forward as 32 bit costs quite a bit of performance.

AA not worth it IMO.

Must say that Unreal looks gorgeous and is really fun to play. Lots of hunting around looking for the way forward...

I am sorting through my PCI-E DX9 video cards for some benchmarking of the game FEAR.

So far I have found Geforce 6800 GT/Ultra, 7800 GTX, 7800 GTX 512, 7900 GTX, 7950 GX2, Radeon X850XT(X), X1950 Pro, X1950 Pro 512, and X1950XTX.
I have also found slower cards like the Radeon X600 and such but I do not think I will bother with those.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.

A bit of the less ordinary today. This is the original production OLPC XO-1 of 2007. Found it last month in a local thrift, and had just enough time to clean & charge before giving it to a friend at holiday coffee. Now it's back for a reflash and to have the RTC battery checked.

There was no corrosion on the battery, which was a problem with these, and the onboard diagnostics show all is good. Updated the firmware to latest because there's been a lot of fixes and possibly improved diagnostics. Reinstalled the old build of RedHat/Sugar to keep it period otherwise.

It's utterly charming. It's like a kitten - you just can't help but keep picking it up to play.

Set up an IRC client on my OS/2 v3 box, a 486dx2/66 system and gas bagged with the vcf crowd for a bit.

There's a glitch in the matrix.

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

Changed my online identity 😀

That's a nice system and will play a ton of DOS as well as early Windows games.

I played around with EZ-Drive 9.03W (Dynamic Drive Overlay), the Western Digital Edition. Got an old Acer 486 OEM motherboard which has a 504 MiB BIOS limit and that was the ideal candidate for testing. I produced a video which I will link in the thread in Release Announcements.

Very interesting with exceeding BIOS limitation. Please PM me when new vid comes, you always served something interesting! If you wish you can see my very first " Big MS-DOS question" post
You will see there full specs of my 586 class pc system. Maybe you could help with some questions. On the other hand, nice to meet you 😀

I replaced case fan in my Industrial PC Pentium MMX 233 with a bit more modern and quieter one. Also received today the extension cable for my midi daughterboard, so now I finally have a well working system with both MT-32 (connected to AWE64 Gold IRQ 9) and TopWave 32 (connected to Audician 32+, IRQ 7) 😀

Put a Swifttech MX370, the best socket 370\A heatsink on one of my Tualatin boards.
It can run passive now, the pins on this things are in the style of a screw and give it a large amount of surface area.

Review of it with pictures, since I'm to lazy to take some.

Putting Seagate's DiscWizard Starter Edition 10.45 through its paces on my Acer 486. Works great but some compatibility issues. Capturing footage for a video and a proper write up.

Also when I installed Windows 98 SE it told me it needed at least a 66 MHz processor 🤣

So the 486DX-33 didn't cut it, an opportunity to test my IntelDX4 Overdrive which works fine and let me install Windows 98 SE. Installation is still going, will be interesting to see how it performs with 32 MB of RAM 😊

Scrubbed and cleaned my Sega Genesis. This was a thrift store find and was extremely grubby as you can probably tell from this photo.

Here's how I found it, completely coated in filth:

And here it is after a little bit of scrubbing and wiping on some Pledge to give it a bit more of a deep black colour:

Other than that I'm just waiting for the CF to IDE adapter to replace the bad HDD in my Packard Bell 812CD. Things are a bit boring on the retro front.

Check me out at Transcendental Airwaves on Youtube! Fast-food sucks!

Did a test setup, using my Epox MVP3-C board.
K6-2-500 and 128 megabyte of ram.
SB16 Vibra (OPL-Edition) and Matrox G400 AGP (Dual-head).

Got UT99 running at 1024x768x32 Lagfree.
Got NFS Porche running at 800x600 all other settings low except viewdistance were set to max.
3D-Mark99: 2756 in 3d-mark and 5830 cpu-mark.
Installed a Realtek NIC and thinking about what case to put it all in.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

setting up a 750GB Hitachi Ultrastar SATA HDD in the HP XW4400 machine , to replace the 320GB IDE drive it was using,

considering the rest of the machine , using an IDE hard drive was a bit archaic , and the extra space is welcome.
