Swapped a free 1gb stick of DDR 333 into my laptop. Rockin 1.5gb @266. Picked up some free RDRAM including a pair of 512mb 600mhz modules. Debating between running 1gb of 800 or 1.5gb of the 600.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Have been rebuilding my FIC-PA2013 MS-DOS-6.22 based machine, as a Win98SE machine.
Swapped the harddrive (the DOS disc had all sort of good config files), and installed a V2 card.

New setup is:
K6-II-500, 128mb Ram, GF2-MX400, PowerColor V2-12mb, AWE64-Gold, 40gb HDD and the usual optical drives.
Mounted a fan in in the side of the case, to make some nice airflow around the V2.

Did some finetuning of the Bios, and formatted the harddrive. Ready for Win-install now.

Learned that my p4 board is limited to 800mhz RDRAM. Oh well, 1gb it is! Now have a pair of 512mb sticks of 600mhz RDRAM begging to be used by someone with a Pentium 3 based RDRAM system 😀

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

I'm getting a couple notebooks and a Socket 478 Dell desktop ready to hopefully donate this week. All past their uses for me, and not in eras I'm interested in for retro activities. I thought I was going to have to take them to Goodwill but think I found another a charity that just started up its own computer refurbishing program. Would much rather have somebody who needs a computer to get it for free rather than pay for something at a thrift store. Also got together some parts that were scattered between a closest and the study together to put with the rest of the retro stuff.

Main: 7800X3D | X670e | 3090 | 4k144hz
Retro: Kind of together: P3 | ASUS P3B-F | Canopus Spectra 2500 | Canopus Pure3D II SLI | (sometimes a Voodoo 5 AGP) | SoundBlaster AWE32|

Had trouble with my FIC board build. It"s not happy with the GF2-MX400 that I have.
Been testing it with a TNT2 pro. Seems to run fairly good now.
Have installed some games to test with.
For some reason it froze with the GF2-MX card after some minutes of use.

That may indicate a cooling problem.

Yelled at a crappy power supply for about 5 minutes because it refuses to power more than a single drive at a time. . .

Pour some water on it. Perferrably while it's on. Guranteed some 'fireworks' ... although possibly real fire, as the old ones don't have the protections new ones do.

Swapping into a weak dual core system and stealing the Antec 450 watt out of that 😀 so no need for destruction. . .yet!

No problem. It's not a big loss, as I for some reason like TNT2's better.
The machine has a voodoo2 anyway. 😀

Yeah nearly did that today - booted up a Mac IIcx for the first time - light came on, video card splash screen was OK. Turned it off, tried again ... sizzle sizzle, then smoke poured out of the machine. Pulled the cord, but haven't been back to see what happened inside the PSU yet. Hope the motherboard & vid card survived 😢

Received and put together my new test bench rig for AGP/SDR RAM parts.
MSI K7T Turbo 2
Athlon XP 2200+
1gb PC133
PNY GeForce 4 ti4200

It'll be used for testing out parts before they go into some of my other retro builds (as well as those that I may be building in the future 😈 ).

Just need to sell the ones you know you are not going to use ever in your life.
Then use the money to buy some really collectable hardware such as V5, GUS and so on.

Been fiddeling with that FIC-Rig again. Some crashes, some freeze's. Reverted to old 4,35 chipset drivers and installed AGP in normal mode.
Checking that cooler on the GF2-MX400 again, trying it out setting it to "best image quality" in Win98SE.
Runs good and stable now. Running UT99 in 800x600 fluid on the GF. It's not really fast. And it reminds me of something trashy....
What to call it then? It need's some kind of name. As I really don't like it that much. It is an ok machine, and nothing more.

Loaded WFWG3.11 on my Dolch PAC. Still in search of VL Chips and Technologies, Inc. 65545 drivers - most of the bundles I've found have actually just wound up being the PCI drivers anyway (in spite of the PKUNZIP bundle claiming they're VL) and the one package I found that actually was VL wouldn't proceed with setup since it wanted a "driver disk 1" that I didn't have (and didn't seem to have anything to do with WFWG's setup diskettes). uuuuuggghhh

Kinda curious if i can sift through the setup files to find out what files from this alleged driver disk it's looking for and possibly get a copy of it. it doesn't seem like a case of "The devs were morons and hard-coded the program to look for files on a specific drive" to me...
