When I got this card one of the caps was damaged, so I replaced all of them with these beautiful ELNA caps.

They look really nice!
Can you please share a photo showing the memory chips, both the soldered ones and the expansion? Or just tell me the markings, whatever is easier for you.

Family story, grandma to uncle when telling him to tidy up the electronic components in his bedroom (late 60s) "I can see why you like them dear, all the pretty coloured stripes.." 🤣

Thank you! The markings on the soldered chips are not readable but the expansion is and I got what I wanted (it's FPM)

My NOS Case Logic 280 CD Wallet from 2005 arrived, so I am now able to have all my game CD's in one place instead of spread out over 3 different CD wallets. I moved over roughly 260 game CD/DVD's to my new wallet!
I love my physical media and wishes games still came on it. I think the last game I bought on physical media was GTA V. Got all of my Sims and Sims 2 games from my local Value Villages'.

nice find, these things will slowly disappear like cd storage racks, tv tables/stands with a shelf for the vhs/dvd and store for the tapes/dvds and all other things designed around specific tech

it's good to get one now, i have an old one i use for loose cds too

I've actually got 5 CD wallet's now. A couple of them, I have had for many years. I've got a small Jensen (24 disc) one that I used to use for in my vehicle, then I have a large Jensen one (144 disc), a medium Case Logic (72 disc), a large Case logic (144 disc), and now this XL case logic (280 disc)!

I use the same card in this 486 and admittedly in Win95 changing driver for Scitech display doctor did make a difference. For example Duke3D runs faster and there is no more framebuffer flicker in The Dig (1995)

Now playing: Red Faction on 2003 Acrylic build

Not all GF4 ti 4200 are created equal.

So I have been using MSI version now for 5 years or so in my 933Mhz Asus P3b-f rig (note overclocked AGP). I have never managed to get core above 285Mhz also 128MB cards have 4ns memory with 444 default speed. According to reports 64MB versions tend to have faster memory clock.
And after scoring Asus 64MB version (bottom one in pic) - indeed it sports 3.5ns memory chips. This one has 513Mhz default clock. Why so weird number? Is it with tampered/reflashed bios?
First quick test with original heatsink I managed to run with @300Mhz core 2001SE 3Dmark just fine.
Most amazing part is card is clearly budget edition. Look how many components are missing. Still manages to perform. I guess power delivery stability at extreme clocks might be affected ...
Also TV out section seems to be more populated on Asus card compared to MSI one...

I have a monster sized one, it's more used as "cold" store, find it a bit too cumbersome, I like the 20-50 size ones for active use.

I found the exact same motherboard, that I had in a core 2 duo build I was doing, but my original board was not working. This one works, so I finished the build.

I installed Windows 7 becasue I had a copy lying around

So I dont think I have much use of this build. I picked up the case and motherboard months ago, from a thrift store, I just really liked the case.

I swapped out the IDE DVD drive for SATA, same with the HDD.
I added a GeForce 9500GT 1 GB , but might swap it out for another card.

CPU is core 2 duo 2.8 GHz
I'm going to remove the remaining IDE DVD rom (which isnt connected) and just put in a slot cover.

When I play games from this era, I just use my modern rig. Does anyone use a machine like this?

Those are excellent and last a lifetime even with everyday professional use, for example dj-ing.
Just a note in case it's not obvious, store vertically like a book!

My experience is a really small sample size, but I have never been able to get MSI nVidia cards to overclock much, a few mhz, that's it, not even getting to what people say is "average" overclock. Get two cards on the same reference design and the MSI one will suck. I started to wonder if I just have terrible luck for them or whether they get someone elses rebinned chip, out of the low bin, or are binning the good ones and selling them at a premium themselves.

However, the TV out section difference might be that the MSI is NTSC only or PAL only and the Asus does both PAL or NTSC.

MSI has cheaper Philips SAA7104E S-video TV-out capability at 1280x1024.

Asus TVD model has better SAA7108AE VIVO TV-in / out 1280x1024.

Some cards also have SAA7108E that are VIVO lower resolution 800x600.

timsdf, good eye.
Found manual - it looks like Asus software bundle included also digital vcr, security camera software to cover video in features. So it might not be the cheapest version...
