Does anyone know where there exists an online repository for old ATI driver versions? I am not only looking for the lastest driver version for a specific graphics card, but all the versions released prior to the final release for a, say, ATI Rage 128.

All, or most, of the old Voodoo, NVIDIA, and Matrox card drivers were fairly easy to find, but I am having trouble with the ATI drivers.

I have, for example, found ATI Rage 128 driver versions for

Win9x
4.13.7078
4.11.6216
4.12.6292

WinNT
4.3.40
4.3.143
4.3.192
4.3.3276

But I'm sure there must be more. I am looking for the magic driver version which solves my problem, and I suspect it falls somewhere between 4.3.40 and 4.3.143 (NT4).

The archive date goes back to Jan 2004, which is still too new. I tried to download some Detonator version 5 drivers from there, but the links do not work.

Here's one from 12-2000 but you might already have it: VOGONS Driver Library

Why don't you upload them for squallstrife for the vogons driver repository?

I'm also using the latest driver for Windows ME, from ATI's website. I have to install as xpert 2000 but it works great. I'm not sure what driver version it is but it's from 2001 I think, and I think it's WDM.

4.11.6060, is that a Win9x driver? I have one from 4/9/1999, but not 6/1999. I could test the one from 6/1999 in Win9x, but my main objective is to find old NT4 drivers. Something between 4.3.40 and 4.3.143.

With your guys help, I now have the following NT4 Rage128 drivers:

4.3.20
4.3.24
4.3.40
4.3.72
4.3.107
4.3.143
4.3.192
4.3.3276

Unfortunately, none of them work with a Cyrix 5x86 chip. They only function with an Am5x86 or POD. Driver versions 4.3.40 and 4.3.72 claim they are not compatible with my display adapter.

Case closed on trying to mate a Cyrix 5x86 with a Rage 128 VR in WinNT4.

Case re-opened to find a Win9x driver version which functions well with D3D in Outlaws when using an Am5x86 CPU. I beleive I need a driver revision between 4.11.6105 and 4.11.6216, which is from April to Sept of 1999.

EDIT: I have located driver version 4.11.6114, but it did not help.

Another good source for old drivers is Reactor Critical:

Some of the files aren't archived, but you can often find them on the live web by searching for the exact file name.

there is a well known driver site in china which has really good collection of driver versions for many years, just that you'd better able to read some chinese:

I am now on the hunt for the best performing, most stable Radeon 9250 drivers for Win98SE. Radeon 9200 drivers also work. Anyone have any experience with this? Here is another site which has a lot, perhaps all, of the ATI Radeon driver revisions from 2002 onwards. http://www.ftpdir.hu/1/order-by3/ftp.sunet.se … s/PC/guru3d/ati

It is very poorly organised though. But if someone has already determined the best/stable Radeon 9200 series drivers in Win9x, it would surely save a lot of time.

The issue I am having right now is that the display driver for the Radeon 9250 PCI loads fine, however the system will freeze if I try to run Quake III or even set the monitor's refresh rate. I am using a 430TX board with an AMD K6-3+ 500 MHz. The system is stable with GeForce, Matrox, Rage128, etc. graphics adapters, however I would like to find at least one stable Radeon driver revision so that I can compare the 9250 with the GF2 MX400 and FX5500 in Quake1-3 and 3DMark2000.

It probably doesn't mean much, but the driver that worked for me recently with the 9250 PCI on XP was 6.11, full filename was
6-11-pre-r300_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_38185.exe
Before that version, I had tried 5 or more other versions that all gave installation errors. Your symptoms are different though, and so is your OS, so it probably means nothing.

sliderider, no I haven't run across those drivers, but I will try them out.
Shamino, if I run into trouble with W2K drivers, I'll look for that driver revision.

My K6-3+/430TX system has 4 operating systems installed on one HDD - NT4/98SE/W2K/XPpro, so I would need working drivers for all operating systems. Unfortunately, Radeon 9200/9250 drivers do not exist for NT4. There was a Radeon 9000 driver for NT4 that ATI quickly removed from the internet following release, but it did not work with my 9250. The non-existant NT4 drivers means that the 9250 will not be in the final build.
