Hooks to the host VGA to pass your host video card through the Voodoo through to your monitor.

Could I hook it into a Nvidia card? Because I don't have a 2D card on me.

Anyone?

Yes you can. Nvidia is 2D & 3D. Voodoo 1&2 are 3D only, so any 2D card is OK.
Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

Alright, thanks, could I also use a higher resolution than what the card supports if I use the Nvidia card?

Resolution support is independent. Voodoo 2 mins at 512x384, maxes at 1024x768 (with SLI - without it's 800x600)

I'm getting a Diamond Monster 3D 4MB. What are the resolutions for it?

512 x 384 and 640 x 480 are the main one.
The first Voodoo is quite slow in comparison to the Voodoo but it's the most compatible when it comes to the very first / old 3D games.

I want to know where 512 x 384 came from 🤣

512x384 wasn't common until VESA support really gained ground and monitors became more robust (often it's a doublescanned resolution calling for 1024x768 to be supported by the monitor)

To be honest I only use it for benchmarking 😀
Some games don't even support it, they start at 640 x 480 as the lowest.
Modern monitors and capture devices often struggle with 512 x 384 and when you have Voodoo SLI a non-60 Hz refresh rate is forced and cannot be changed. My Samsung monitor always puts up a warning, but displays it fine. But after 30 seconds it goes black so I just have to wake it up again, get the benchmark score and set it back to 640 x 480.
It's also a great resolution for CPU scaling tests.
Bur yea, nobody I think plays in this resolution if they have other options.

I blame ATi. The RAGE version of MechWarrior 2 is locked to 512x384. As I recall some Xbox 360 games were slightly letterboxed so the game didn't have to render the full 720 lines.
Could be similar thinking. 340 is pretty low, 480 stresses the hardware too much, let's bump it by just a touch.

Well before. Old Apple computers supported/used it (like Mac II); that's as far back as I've ever tracked it. 😊
EDIT: Typo - "Mac II" not "Apple II" 🤣
