Does anyone happen to have an ACPI BIOS for TX97-X? ASUS seems to have released ACPI BIOS's for its TX97 line but retracted later. So far I can only find ACPI BIOS for TX97-E, TX97-XE, TXP4 and TXP4-X in various online repositories. They all have the same version 1001 beta 003.

Have you seen the one Google Groups/USENET search result for the 1001 beta 003 BIOS for the TX97-X?
(It's from like ten years ago so not worth tracking the author down...)
He couldn't get XP to boot...

Shamefully I have never been to the world of usenet 😢
I found this thread through toms hardware archive
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/150343-30-asus-tx97-acpi
I am not sure if this is the topic you are talking about. I wonder: 1) so there is an ACPI BIOS TX97-X, or 2) he might be using TX97-XE BIOS? I know for 0112_j2 BIOS there is some degree of interchangeability.

Yeah, and that's the world of USENET. Well, a mirror. alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus from 2004.
Many websites did this for informative reasons (bringing USENET out to the searchable web), money reasons (profiting with Google Ads off of other people's posts), policy reasons ("Let's make it look like we have forums and that they are busy!"), many other reasons.

But yes, that's the thread. So it does not bode well for XP usage, but I suppose it is possible he is using the wrong BIOS *shrug*

No... But it might sniffed ACPI from the beta BIOS and tried to install as an ACPI computer, then ... boom! 😵

I tried looking at archived asus.com but only found what's on mobokive above.
Still need to look at asus.com.tw.

It may need to be patched/reconstructed for you, maybe. Someone at those BIOS hackers websites. But hopefully you can find it.

There's a trick if you're willing to redo the Windows XP install.

When still in text mode setup, when it asks to press F6 for extra drivers, hit F7. It will allow you to select the PC type.

Change from 'ACPI compliant' to 'Standard Computer' and it will install XP with no ACPI support.

Other option, if you can boot in safe mode, is to manually change the HAL from ACPI to non-ACPI.
**************************
In Device Manager, right-click on "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC" under the "Computer" header and select "Update Driver".
Select "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)" and click Next.
Select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install" and click Next.
Select "Standard PC" and click Next.
Click Next and OK to the end.

Nothing noteworthy on asus.com.tw either, no ZIP files of note. Unless something is in the HTML, I am not seeing it.

Last known archive of ftp.asus.com also had what is on mobokive. hmmm...

There may have been a floppy disk at one point in this manual, but I'll have to look around. All I see is this CD and "Audio Drivers for Creative Labs Vibra Series Revision 1.50".

I tried the TX97-XE ACPI BIOS. Everything works fine except ACPI. An ACPI-installed XP will automatically reboot, and Win 7 complains about not being ACPI-compliant.

I doubt if ASUS ever released ACPI beta BIOS for TX97-X...

Like I said, maybe you could hire some BIOS hackers to make it for you? Look at the changes between some common revision BIOS like 1.04 or something between motherboards, then look at the differences between 1001 beta 03 of the various TX97's, and use that to patch a TX-97X board?

That said, it may not turn out better than the TX97-XE bios on the TX97-X board. And kudos to you for (probably) duplicating what was in that USENET thread. 😀

I tried ACPI BIOS on an SP97-V and ACPI-installed XP refuses to boot, too. The BIOS version is 1001 beta 005, and it's a match with the board. I guess the ASUS xx97 series board are not real ACPI-compliant, which might be the reason why ASUS took the beta ACPI BIOS's off their website.
