I can't find any internal floppy drives that do not use the ribbon connector and power header. It's odd since there are many external usb powered floppy drives available. Well.. supply and demand is probably a factor too. The closest I can find is combo card reader and ribbon cable floppy drives. Since most new mobos don't have fdd headers, you have to carry around an external. Has anyone seen any internal drives? Perhaps in beige? 😊 Maybe even a fdd cable converter?

Nothing I've ever seen, and I would imagine it could have compatibility problems since it would require the machine to have USB drivers and such (which may be a problem with older OS). For a modern computer it really doesn't matter though - they don't need anything that comes off of FDD. Of course if you need to hook up an FDD, the USB route is probably cheapest and easiest. For older machines just go with internal drives - they're usually higher quality anyways.

I've bought this one, because my new motherboard doesn't have floppy connector and my old PC case (which I like) has dedicated (profiled) hole for floppy. Works as expected.
