Hi!
I have one pentiumII pc and 2 options for sound card.
What would you prefer?
SB16 ct1750+nec xr385 or YMF724 PCI soundcard.
My motherboard has SBlink.
I run Win98, and DOS games thru win98.
I am really confused about this. I like them both 😁

both shall have no compatibility problems for win98 and dos games, i would go with ymf724 cause sb16 has worse sound quality with lots of noises. ymf724 also has superior hardware mixing support in windows aswell.

ymf724 has xg inside, and has no wt header.
I have a GUS classic and I wanted to put something inside for SB pro/16 compatibility. YMF724 gave me the option of having GM in some games (DOS games in Win98). I wanted to put SB16 on other PC, but I'm afraid that I might have some compatibility issues with yamaha, even though it has sblink connected. I understand that SB16 has worst sound quality, But i changed the opamps for TL074, I know I must recalculate gains, but sound is so much cleaner than it was, no more hiss, or distortion in OPL3 when we have bass or drums. My machine is almost ready, I just need an USB2.0 card with internal idc10 pin connector and that's it.
