Hey guys, I'm ready build my best 386 that I can do, I have these boards and so far I'm leaning towards the PC Chips M321 Rev 2.7, this one can take 256kb and also can be write back.
The Ali board is from one of my older threads that one I recovered from a scrap pile it only had a tiny bit of corrosion but it's acting strange.
When I ran speedsys it took forever to benchmark and when it got done it has a score of 1.7 for the AMD 40mhz 😕 I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Bad resistor or regulator maybe?

also trying to do cache upgrades on these boards I need 16K x 4 and 8K x8, preferably 15ns or less, I found these that should work for my 8K http://www.aliexpress.com/item/IS61C64AH-15N- … 2285624797.html the 16K I need is 24pin.

I found this for the PC Chips, Ver 2 in stead of 2.7 but looks the same. http://stason.org/TULARC/pc/motherboards/I/IL … -321-VER-2.html

The MB-1333C/40C-CH, which is also PC Chips, it's displaying 35mhz instead of 40 and the cache is setup for 128k but on the boot screen it only reads 64k and in speedsys it also reads 64k, I'd like to upgrade it to 256k but I'm not 100% sure since I can't find much info on it. I found this MB-1333C-CH/1340C-CH which is very similar but not sure if jumpers are the same. http://museum.ttrk.ee/th99/m/A-B/30648.htm

This M326 Rev 5.2 is interesting it has a newer style bios from 94-96? like you find in later 486 boards it has 128K soldered onto the board, I like this board but I don't think it will be better then the M321

The 1333 board works at 33MHz. FSB/CPU frequency is one half of main OSC frequency for most 386 boards, no matter what CPU says. You can make it 40MHz by replacing the OSC with 80MHz one from another board.

RacoonRider, thanks I'll try that out. Do you know what kind of Cache I could get for it to upgrade it to 256k? From what I found I need 64k x 4 looks like 11 are needed 3 of them for tag ram.

I won't bin any the boards part of my collection 🤣

If Speedsys gives you low result on the PC Chips M321 Rev 2.7, have you checked that it really runs at 40MHz? Try putting a jumper on the turbo setting.

FYI...For 40MHz operation you need cache chip ratings of 25ns and tag chip 20ns. You can put faster but it won't make any difference. Going from 128kb to 256kb cache gives a few % performance increase - so don't expect miracles 😉

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

Hello.... a neighbor gave me this computer, I found that the battery acid had ruined several tracks from the motherboard.

The ALI board has potential. Why don't you run some benchmarks in speedsys and doom?
