Sup lads.

I have this ISA capture card, and am unable to find the software for it.

Well, sorta, there is one site that previously had the files, but now appears to be offline (cesium.com). It's archived here: https://web.archive.org/web/20061030045244/ht … .com/mvftp.html

The files are called:

movspec.exe
248K. Media Vision Pro Movie Spectrum driver with vcr.exe from 2/14/93.

movstud.exe
350K. Media Vision Pro Movie Studio driver with vcr.exe from 6/24/93 and a couple from 7/27/93.

mvspec11.exe
255K. Media Vision Pro Movie Spectrum driver v 1.1 (?) with vcr.exe from 8/28/93.

pmstud21.exe
395K. Media Vision Pro Movie Studio driver v 2.1 with vcr.exe from 6/2/94 and a few files from 8/16/94.

mvvlib.exe
131K. Media Vision Pro Movie Video Developer's Library from 2/4/94.

pmsvcr.exe
250K. Media Vision Pro Movie Spectrum DOS VCR Program from 8/16/94 and 9/8/94.

Can anybody help?

Yeah, I'd try emailing that cesium.com guy if I were you, unless someone else here comes forward. (Cloudschatze maybe? It is Media Vision after all...)

MOVSPEC.ZIP I can find a few places.

No, sorry. Despite their video-centric heritage (Video Seven, Headland Technology), I've really only ever concerned myself with Media Vision's sound/music-related products.

Thanks guys, I've flung the guy an email yesterday. It hasn't bounced, which is nice. No response yet though. Fingers crossed!

I could have sworn I ran across these files elsewhere. If you need the "full" Video For Windows 1.1 (for Win 3.1x capture), you can grab it here: http://www.aitech.com/ftp/vfw11.zip

Installing Video For Windows and the driver from MOVSPEC.ZIP should get capture working at least in Windows. Just beware, the capture application sucks hardcore.

This card never got Windows 95 drivers, so don't bother looking. If you are REALLY lucky, an old Windows 9x compatible version of VirtualDub might work with the capture driver.

Windows 95 support doesn't matter, thanksfully! 😀

The aim of my little project is to capture and upload a video to Youtube using only Windows 3.11. There was a joke video uploaded recently showing a video being made and uploaded, I'd like to do it for reals if I can.

OK, turns out my card is a ProMovie Spectrum 2.0. Not at all compatible with the drivers for the model 1 card, which has jumpers and DIP switches and stuff.

Sigh. Oh well. Back to the drawing board!

Not actually a challenge.
e.g. the Matrox Media XL package is completely Win 3.x based (this is the video capture extension for the Millenium).
You can capture videos in CIF and then upload it directly to youtube (not through the web frontend).

Bringing up an old topic but found these files which is for the 650-0078-03 Pro Movie Studio card, and appears to be ProMovie Spectrum 2.0 since it does not have switches and matches model number.
Here is a picture (poor one)...

I just got a Pro Movie Spectrum (1.0 version) and I have been trying to track down any available files for it. I managed to find this floppy image that contains the dos VCR program and the promovie.drv needed to access this card in Windows 3.1. I'll report back here if this image works.

Thanks ! Yes the files are about 6 months older than the other set I have for v2... hope they work for your v1 ...
edit: found my archives and is same file set as movspec.exe.
For Windows 3.x you will want VFW v1.0 if you plan on editing captured files. Also found the FAQ files for Movie Spectrum and Movie Studio and a review/install/app description text....
will attach after checking on the turkey in the oven 😁 Happy Thanksgiving Day to those who honor it.....

the FAQ's already uploaded a year or so ago: http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?file … 845&menustate=0
Movie Spectrum FAQ = pmovfaq.txt , Movie Studio FAQ = qpmstud.htm
