So, I'm about to pick up a really nice small form factor Celeron powered Dell Optiplex today, but I'm not sure what to do about the sound card for DOS compatibility. Ideally I'd like to have something capable of handling more demanding dos titles and later win98 stuff with minor sacrifices in compatibility. Usually I'd accomplish this with a yamaha ymf-724 card or SB Live! But, this case requires the use of a low profile card due to it's incredibly small size. inside it has what looks like a standard PCI slot and a 64 bit PCI slot as well. Unless it's the same slot used for the riser in the larger variants.

Do I have any options for native/real-mode DOS compatible low profile PCI sound cards?

Looks like Audigy came in low profile versions, should have about same compability as Live.

There is a card called "Sound Blaster Live 24-bit" that comes in low profile. I used this card for quite some time, but I did not test the dos compatibility.
