Hi everyone, first post here. I recently became a proud owner of a Zida 4dps Ver. 2.1 motherboard and I am trying to flash the bios to 4.00a. I got it from the download section on this site and copied the flasher and bios to a floppy. When I try to Flash with AWDflash 5.4, every time it goes to erase the flash chip it instantly fails. I get the error message "Erase chip fail". I made sure the jumper was set to the 1-2 for J4 so it's the flash not the eprom. Any help is greatly appreciated..

First of all check that you have a Flash Chip installed and not a EPROM chip.
Then check wheater you have a 5V or 12.5 V EEProm installed. Maybe you can only write 5V Chips.
Maybe you want to use Uniflash

Here's a link to the board I got off Ebay. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id= … 8693892&alt=web Zooming in on the flash chip on my phone but It don't say if it's flash or the voltage. At work so best I can do for now...

Ok thanks, I will look when I get home. It should say right on the chips correct? Guessing the eeprom is the one directly to the left of the flash chip?

Thanks

There is only one EEPROM or Flash Chip (Dip-28) with a sticker on it I guess.
Remove the sticker, to check which chip it is and look up the stats on the net.

Does the board looks like this?: http://www.image-share.com/ijpg-2493-101.html
The holtek chip is the keyboard controller!
JP4 in 1-2 is correct, but it won't help when you don't have a flashable chip installed, of course 😉

That looks a lot like an Eprom to me, same as my Lucky star motherboard has. I flashed my own eprom for it, but of
course I have a eprom burner.
Chances are it's a 27c010 128kB chip. You may be able to scavenge an eeprom from another motherboard if You have one,
they are usually 29c010 or 29e010, and can also be called 29c1001. As long as it's the same pinout as a 27c010 it will work
as long as Your motherboard supports flashing bios chips.

That one needs a parallel port to work, but will do most common chips.

There are other USB models, but You will need to do research.

The USB model you linked here will work with that chip you linked too?
