They're microATX based so you should be able to fit at least a low-wattage S-type i7 in there comfortably. A 2011 Sandy Bridge i7 isn't totally obsolete yet, so that's about five years better than that eTower pulled off!

OTOH, one could argue the eTower never became obsolete, because it was crap from day one 😉 (i810 boxes share that special circle with the Mac LC II and Performa x200-family...)
