Voodoo2 listing for two 12MB cards. Noticed they don't have chips on the back side. Is it possible they are only 8MB cards? I'm not sure how to test for 12MB. Do I care about 100MHz memory speed? Thoughts?

I assume these are from Russia?

I have a pair just like these and yes, they are 12MB.

My builds!
The FireStarter 2.0 - The wooden K5
The Underdog - The budget K6
The Voodoo powerhouse - The power-hungry K7
The troll PC - The Socket 423 Pentium 4

Yes, this is one of the few single-sided V2 12MB.

btw - two upper chips (BE) in theory should support up to 16MB each. Did anyone try to solder the extra memory on the back side? 😀 CK is already maxed out at 4MB.

It should be 36MB in total, yes. But only 16MB of effective texture memory - I believe textures are duplicated. Just like Voodoo5 or any modern dual GPU videocard for that matter.

Very helpful to know.

Thanks for the info everyone

Yep the TMU can go up to 16 mb each on the V2, you can do the same to V1 era cards for extra memory and there is a guide out there.

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

Do games automagically make use of the extra memory? I can solder / desolder chips onto such things. If I "want" to however... well I'm not sure 😀

I have two of the same cards pictured above. Here is a screenshot from my system. Is this indicating a problem?

8MB "total" ?

That is normal, a 12 MB card has 4MB framebuffer + 8MB texture memory.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.

Yes, something is wrong. It must be 8 MB + 16 MB.
By the way - fix the info panel with this solution.

P.S. Strange, why your panel shows fxmemmap.vxd but uses WinXp riched20.dll? What are your OS and Voodoo2 driver version?

Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400B,
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
Voodoo2 12 MB SLI, Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

I am using Win98SE

Using version 3.03 from http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo2.htm

I am manually pointing the discovered devices to the drivers, by clicking on 'update driver' and browsing to a directory containing the above extracted files. In my case, just a folder on my desktop.

Last I updated the control panel by overwriting 3dfxv2ps.dll with the first link from http://www.falconfly.de/tools.htm

Can you provide a more appropriate method of installing?

I will try the fix you posted too!

Well, this fix was for WinXp. The panel is ok in WinME for me...
But it looks like even Win9x can have the wrong riched20.dll (KernelEx was installed?) so - use it. The fix just changes riched20.dll link to riched21.dll in 3dfxv2ps.dll so you can use the vanilla WinME file (renamed) and not affect another programs.
