Nope, the board retains its shape when in the case unless there was something to push the board into place like a chunk of rubber or plastic. Sadly this is normal for many 775 era boards and wouldn't be surprised that this appears in newer boards using push pin style coolers. Back plates really do wonders for boards and graphics cards in keeping them straight and giving some physical protection when out of the case.
