sc-55st can emulate the mt32, but not 100% since mt32 had ram and sc55 does not. I believe there is a midi file that you can play that will send the commands to setup the sc55 to mt32 mode.

since the sc55st does not have the buttons the other sc55 series has you cant press left part when turning on to get mt32 mode. I did a quick scan of the sc55st manual and didnt see anything about using mt32 sound banks, so it may not have it in its rom. best bet is to get the m32 reset midi file and see if it works for you.

Yes, I found GSPLAY, which can convert it. Yeah, not so good as it could be emulated on Boxer (DosBox) with rom file. very poor emulation. Sad

The SC-55ST can emulate an MT-32 as well as an SC-55 or SC-55mkII. The synthesis unit in the SC-55ST is identical to that in the SC-55mkII and SCB-55, they skimped on the panel and connectors on the ST. It is the SC-50 that skimps on the mkII synthesis unit by leaving out MT-32 emulation but keeping most of the panel and connectors.

To set the MT-32 emulation mode on the SC-55ST, you need to play MT32EMUL.MID. To get out of MT-32 emulation mode, turn the unit off and back on.

What program in dos i need to use to play that midi? I usualy use gsplay, but i habe that files as well. Just need to know what player in dos i need to use to play that midi

Thank you. GSPLAY and playing that files with playmid are doing the same thing. Yes it is poor emulation, but at least not stupid instruments mismatch as it could be with GS/GM playing MT-32 games
hm, until game wants to load custom bank to MT-32. In that case fail again 😀 haha
