I just picked up a PNY QuickChip 133mhz Am5x86 upgrade chip. It's got a ton of jumpers on it for different configurations as can be seen here:

Now I've tried a bunch of settings and nothing seems to work when I enable the external L2 cache on my motherboard.

This is my motherboard:

I noticed the write back/write through jumper on my mobo is missing and it's set to write through. I have a fully populated cache that afaik works fine with my real intel 486 dx2-66.

I imagine some combination of motherboard and and cpu settings will work, but there's so many and it's not a zif socket which makes it a huge pain to swap out.

Any ideas?

I should also mention that this is hanging on the initial screen after the drive check while it says wait... It should beep and start booting the HDD but it just hangs.

I don't want to move to a socket 7 but between this, none of the ram I find works, and Doom just isn't very smooth, I may just end up doing that. I was hoping for the VLB dream machine and it's just been one problem after another.

Maybe the same problem as with my dx5-133 and my acer ap43 486 board: no bios support for that cpu.

Mine acts weird (extremely slow, bios hanging, hd not found etc.) with that cpu at the normal settings. Setting it up as a dx4 works but it runs at 100mhz, 3x multi. So it now runs as 3x 50 to get some speed out of it.
The board works fine with dx2 and dx4 cpu's so it is just not supported by bios and it doesn't know what to do with it.

It could be nice if there was still software available to edit the bios and add CPU codes in them ... (award softs can be found easily, but not AMI soft ...)
