Will this setup work? Does the SC-55 have an mt-32 mode?

Only a small percentage of games will work like that. Games that just stick to the standard MT-32 instruments. Monkey Island is a good example. The vast majority of games however will sound way off.

To elaborate on Phil's post.

Yes, an SC-55 does have an MT-32 mode, but it only emulates the MT-32 by providing the same sound arrangement as the preset sounds of the MT-32.
In order for a game from this era (which were mostly games released between 1987 and 1993) to sound "correct" on the Roland SC-55 it must not apply custom patches via sysex commands. An SC-55 will ignore these sysex commands and therefore not sound correct - you can read more about this on the Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_SC-55#CM … MT-32_Emulation)

Apart from the above, some games from that era also required an intelligent mode MPU-401 MIDI interface in order to "communicate" with the MIDI synthesizer. However, this problem can largely be overcome by using a software based utility like SoftMPU.

Why don't you take a few minutes to Google all the basic questions you keep on asking, like this : https://www.google.com/#q=roland+sc-55+mt-32+mode, and then you can ask more specific questions if things are unclear. 😒
