Im having problems with my 486, i cant get my cd-rom to work with creative labs sound blaster 2 pro ide interface.

Sadly old cd-rom is dead and im trying to change it but i only have new cd-roms that are made after year 2000.

As fast as i connect a ide cable to my sound card the cd-rom driver wont start/open, if i remove the end of ide cable from the soundboard it opens without any problems.

Im not sure, but is it possible i will never be available to connect a new cd-rom to my old card?

naa, nothing yet...

Probably because the Sound Blaster Pro 2 doesn't have an IDE interface? 😀
It's a proprietary Panasonic/Matsushita interface.
Just connect the CD-ROM to the IDE interface of your multi I/O card (or onboard IDE). You can still connect the 4-pin audio to the SB Pro (CD_IN).

Ask old hardware questions in Marvin. This forum is for DOS games on *modern* systems.
