My ACER Pentium has EXACTLY the same issue. Try flipping the IDE cable connection around. Mine has an IDE cable with no notch, so it can go in either way. The wrong way maks it freeze at boot. Mine still won't work though. Installs go fine, but when the system is reset the SD card just won't boot. I can't even get a 2GB IDE DoM to register in the BIOS!! ;-/
