Hi, all

I'm thinking of finally getting an AMD K6-3+ CPU for a Super Socket 7 build. I have a Lucky Star 5MVP3 AT motherboard and I'm looking to buy a AMD K6-3+ 400ATZ chip that a lot of people here seem to use. However, this chip is rated at 1.6V while most AT motherboards for Super Socket 7 (including mine) seem to only support 2.0V+. The question is — how harmful will that be for the chip? Should I source an ATX motherboard/case or can I stick with my AT setup?

2 Volts is perfectly fine. Remember these are the same chips, just binned for low voltage.

The chip will generate a little extra heat compared to the nominal core voltage, so make sure you supply the type of cooling typical for a normal K6-2 at a minimum.
