No idea why they're making cables like this in 2017 when most drives are very close to the side panel. Especially when it's off of a $300 power supply. (Be quiet brand)

If it is putting pressure on the side panel, then yeah, it could break the SATA connection on the drive.
That being said, I try to make sure I have wide enough cases to no have to worry about it.

Might have to use some molex to satas, the non-fire causing ones are quite hard to find locally, do they only catch fire when used with ssd's?
