I've got a situation where a pentium 2-350 is outperforming a p3-700 on zdoom, first I found it was because the 350 had a geforce 4 and the 700 a radeon 9200, gave them both radeon 9200's but the 700 is still only about 30% more performance than the 350.

I've got a geforce 2mx and the aforementioned geforce 420 along with a radeon 9200 and 9200se. A radeon 7500 also. Which card should go in which machine? I'm guessing the 7500 should go in the 350 to slow it down a bit. Not sure it would result in 100% less performance rather than the 30% I'm getting presently.

Geforce2MX = Late PentiumIII (800-1.1ghz)/Early P4 or Athlon Thunderbird/XP era
Radeon7500 = the same ^

Radeon 9200 = The same, but slightly newer CPUs (2.4ghz-3.2ghz), plus Pentium M 😀

The P2 and P3s you have were once crying for Voodoo2/3s and TNTs/Rage128s.

Zdoom's software rendered with only 3d acceleration used to blit a texture in Direct3D for avoiding palette issues in newer NT-based operating systems. Those cards won't make a difference when the bottlenecks of Zdoom tend to be insistent FmodEx use, OPL emulation and the game's overbloated playsim. Pausing the game often produces 4x the framerate of what's rendered
