I'm looking for nglide support in Windows 98 and I know that the Geforce FX series supports 8-bit palletized textures, and I have a FX 5500 and FX 5200 but I was hoping that one of my Radeons supported it but I can't seem to find a straight answer. I have a Radeon 9600XT, 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro.

Thanks

Vogons Wiki says no. You can check quickly with the FF7 Demo, running the hardware config.

Apparently it does, but needs older drivers to do so, along with Table Fog Emulation.

I don't have a link handy nor specific drivers, as I have never tried this. I've seen many people debate this issue over the years and a few of them insisted on having both these features working on older driver sets, so I reckon you could try 2002-2003 drivers.

AFAIK no radeons ever supported 8 bit paletized textures or table fog emulation. Only nvidia kept supporting it until the FX series. the 6000 series finally dropped it.

I guess drivers may have emulated paletted textures and table fog; seems to be what they did after removing them from GeForce FX.

Radeon 9xxx series is for late era Win98 gaming anyway. And yet even a GF4-ti4200 can do well in a highend Win98 rig.
If we are talking about XP games, then go for some extra beefy nVidia instead.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

The Rage128 Fury's the same deal. - table fog and palettes are emulated by driver.
