As per title Im looking for a Quadtel 40 Pin Keyboard/Mouse Controller Chip.

My keyboard and mouse are sometimes flaky on my 386 and I think its the chip that is at fault. I cant find them anywhere so hopefully someone here will be able to help me.

Please can you also advise if I can replace it with any 40 pin chip. Mine is quadtel and has a key on it. Do I need a key?

Can I do a straight replacement without having to mess around with anything else.

I believe you can replace it with pretty much any other PC keyboard controller, those are all based on the same Intel chip / core, just firmware is different, but all of them are supposed to operate in the same way. If you have another board with keyboard controller socketed, you can freely swap them.

Yes, they are 8042 and should all work the same.

However, it will probably not help you. That chip has absolutely nothing to do with the mouse. If the mouse behaves strange, the problem lies elsewhere.
