Anyone ever heard of this card before? What's the difference between this and the ET4000AX?

Ediit: Here's a picture. In addition to the VGA port it has a 9-pin dsub and a stack of Xtals on the left. What is this thing?

Strange card.... Looks like a card with outputs for both vga and ega monitors.
There are a lot of crystals on it too. Wich makes me think of an ET-3000.
Never seen or even heard about the 4000-C chip before. New to me.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

This chip has an earlier date code (9002) than any ET4000AX that I can find. Prototype perhaps?

The earliest ET4000AX that I can find is in this thread, with a 9008 date code.

I was watching that on eBay. Did you buy it? Someone did 😀

I was unsure whether or not to buy it, someone decided for me 😀

And that is exactly why I decided to just go for it 😉 I saw there were 7 other watchers.

Yeah it seems like a hybrid between the 3000 and the 4000AX, I've seen a couple of 3000s with the array of Xtals on the side and the Ega port (I assume that's what it is). Most also lack the CE connector at the top too which ive no idea what would be used for. Primitive sli???

Feature connector. Used for direct memory access, e.g. for video playback cards and the like.

Uhmmm... It has a feature connector. Looks like a connector on a 5,25 inch floppy drive.

This thing is getting stranger and stranger. An unknown, possibly prototype board, has dual output, (possible) video capture or something else using the feature connector (thank you for that peeps - Every day is a school day), and resembles the evolution between the ET3000 and the ET4000AX. The *missing link* 🤣

This beastie will need to get benchmarked when I get it.

Maybe some one rebranded a ET3000 and sells it as ET4000 ?

Here is some info from a Russian site:
http://www.phantom.sannata.ru/forum/index.php … o_print&t=10496

Original:

Google translate:

Does anyone else on the forum have a video card on the TSENG ET4000C chip? If there is, and it is different from mine, it's interesting to look at her photo. Some mysterious chip, which in Google did not find any information ... By the date it is closer to ET3000AX, and in speed - about like ET4000AX ...

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

Oooh another Russian site has mention of it too:
http://www.modlabs.net/category/videokarty/p/3

When I get it I'll be running 3DBench1.0, I see mention of "chris' 3d bench" too, are there any other programs people use for benchmarking?

So it finally arrived from Germany (with a small amount of sand in the static-dissipative bag... wtf?) and I've mananged to get a good look at it. It definitely looks like some earlier ET3000AX models with the 5 crystals mounted to it. From a .txt document uploaded as a webpage detailing the switch orientation for a ET3000AX it appears I need to have all 4 switches to the "off" position to enable VGA mode, which leaves the 3 jumpers across the board. I've seen some details about IRQ channels and enabling/disabling the EGA port from other SVGA cards so I'm hoping they're in the correct position.

There's also some damage to one of the tracks near the VGA port. I hope it's just topical.

I've messaged the seller asking this card's story. I'll update if he knows anything.

So for the install, I've no idea if I need the 3000AX or the 4000AX drivers (or who knows... a custom driver maybe?). I'll experiment with them both to see what one seems better.

For DOS you don't need any drivers.

For Windows 3.1 there might be some but they are useless as with 256 colours it will be pretty slow. For non-accelerated cards 16 colours was recommended.

You can look up the fcc Id number and see if the fcc has any information on the card.

I tried an FCC ID search. They have no information other than details about the manufacturer.
