I added the info to the S1564D page, you'll see an "additional info" pdf in there

Next one just arrived: Tyan S1562 Tomcat. Disovered in a scrap lot and made a good deal. Looks OK and will test soon.

put 768mb (edit 512mb) of ram in it and a k6 plus see my previous post :p should be able to ignore the coast with a k6+ if you don't have one

That board has a different VRM design. I'm not confident it'll like (dual) K6+ CPUs.

Mine doesn’t take dual k6. It only works with single when I tried. I think the only ones that can do dual k6 are old socket dual 5 boards using non smp chipsets with a chip that made smp work. One like that would require powerleap adapters but might work with tillamook, cyrix, k6 there is a post about a guy who saw one in the wild. If anyone in this thread has a board like this I hope they will consider trying it. It would be very nice to see it working.

Edit: I no longer believe than tillamook can smp, or any other brand of socket 7 cpu. It seems pentium before tillamook is all you get for dual.

What I mean is it has a different VRM layout compared to the one you reported on here and I'd make sure it can deliver the right voltages. In fact, looking at it more closely I'm not even confident this is a split voltage design.
Btw. I can never not chuckle when they choose to label the parallel port "PRN PORT". Dumb, I know. 😁

Edit: Oh, and I'm talking about the Tyan S1562 from this post, not the Tyan S1564 posted here in case this led to any confusion.

I understood. yes you will have to verify new settings for your board as you are correct it does appear to be different vrm/jumpers looking at it I do expect it is dual voltage though as it has two mosfets but of course that isn't conclusive. check manual.

See my post one page back for ideas, start with a pentium mmx it has a 2.8v core and would probably survive testing if it isn't dual
if it is dual you should see one of those mosfet tabs changing voltage when you mess with the voltage jumpers. I bet you find a setting for 2.2v with some experimentation.

Yes, the manual does not mention split voltage therefore I dont see any reason to try it. I am not going to make experiments with this board. If I like to have a faster CPU I am going to use a more modern board.

I was unsure about Coast compatabiliy and found a picture of a working one here:
https://electrelic.com/electrelic/node/456

Therefore I took a look in the lot I got some weeks ago and found a similar one (circle). It is detected as 512 kb and seems to work fine.

Yeah, gotta be careful with those coast sticks. Some of them aren’t compatible and can fry your board. Good job finding the right one

Is it just me or does it look like there is a vrm module footprint under that power regulator heatsink?

This is one of the first Dual S7 boards I got:

ASUS_P_E-P55T2P4D.JPG

In the flesh it´s quite huge.

Just curious, does the RAID Port work and is it a RAID Port II or III ?

Something about this just won’t die for me, I gotta keep perusing this until someone tries this in all the socket 5 boards.

So I’m looking for owners of dual socket 5 motherboards to try something for me. (And for science)

The story starts here..

Then goes here…
Re: Dual amd K6 computer

And now here we are today, someone else is claiming to have seen one..

Has anyone had a chance to try out pentium mmx overdrives in one of these yet?

I may have a chance soon.

I will have one soon, not two. But I should be able to pair it with a mmx 200 at maybe 3.0v long enough to see if two processors detect

It would be cool to be able to use these on socket 5 boards, but I think I’ve heard they didn’t route the smp pins on these?

Edit:

https://www.pchardwarelinks.com/586pin.htm

According to this, the smp pins appear to be present..

Pretty sure I've only got a single Pentium mmx overdrive. So sad.

Which one?

I’ve dualed non matched mmx chips before. Re: A-symmetrical MPS on pentium 1 multi processor PC But they were matched voltages. In this case due to the intel multiplier locking they were running at different core frequencies. Which was a cool test. Cpu-z said they were the same frequency but benchmarks showed otherwise.

On second thought crap,
Something to consider is the mmx overdrive will likely short vcc2 to vcc3 which probably won’t hurt anything but will deliver full I/O voltage to the non overdrive due to the link…

Yeah, While a quick test should still be possible, it seems the only proper way to do this is with two overdrives.
