Hi all,
A stab in the dark, I'm hoping someone would have some knowledge of subj system.
Bought a NOS IBM PS/1 2011 w/ 30MB HDD and 1MB RAM the other day, including Model M2 keyboard and mouse. I was stoked!
Seemed to work really well when I plugged it in, booted right up, got the CMOS errors (161, 163) and launched the quad screen. I could access the HDD and ROM drives.
So far so good! Soldered a couple AAs to the Dallas RTC and tried to get the floppy going. Error 161 went away, but 163 remained as I hadn't configured the system yet.
Well, I can't. Neither CONFIGUR.EXE nor CUSTOMIZ.EXE are anywhere present on the HDD. And since the BIOS isn't configured, I can't access the FDD. I even tried the FDD swap (removing pins from a different floppy drive supplying voltage over the PS/1 ribbon cable, separate power from serial card) and no dice. Exact same symptoms as with the original PS/1 drive.
Tried pressing both mouse buttons on boot as well. Nil effect.
Is there any way to get the floppy drive to read without configuring the BIOS? I can't just move the HDD over to another machine and copy the files over, as it's proprietary.
