The MB Soyo SY-6BB has the "unique" feature of being AT form factor with a 440BX chipset, capable of running up to PIII 550MHz (Slot 1). Mine says "Unknown Flash Type" at boot. Probably due to some miss-flashing process by a previous owner. I couldn't find any repository with the BIOS. Someone has it or know where to find it?

Based on this quote from Soyo, that's a possibility

6BB BIOS files explanation
The 6BB board comes in two versions. Please look at your current BIOS revision to determine what type of BIOS you have to download. The 2 board versions are BB-xxx and BB V1.0_xxx. Make sure to select the correct file.

Check here for bios files for both board types http://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/archive/Soyo/bi … /686/index.html

Yeah, my searches / posts were a bit out-of-(logical)order. I'd seen the board info & files at a Soyo support page on archive.org

https://web.archive.org/web/20001217201700/ht … d686=6BB&bios=1

and as those links are dead I'd pointed you to the elhvb link, but before I'd noticed 1a8 was missing there. I then just did a web search for Soyo 6BB and +1a8 and the first link I found was the Chinese site mydrivers.com. I checked the download actually worked then zipped and uploaded it here. The direct link on mydrivers is

http://drivers.mydrivers.com/drivers/2_1162.htm (it's then green button half way down the page that says 128K)

Hi,

I am the maintainer of elhvb.com

I downloaded the 6bb-1a8 version and added it to the page directly. I also have a made a patched version available here:
http://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/archive/Soyo/bi … ched/index.html
That should support harddisks up to about 128GB. If you feel like testing it, please let me know how that went.

Kindest regards,
Edwin

its a nice board for an AT case.
i have one 6BB 1.0, it also has patched bios for higher hdd support, cant remember the website where it was hosted.

i think it only accepts katmai cpus, not sure about using it with a slocket and a s370 cpu, do you know if it works?

Hi, that patched bios most likely originates from wimsbios.com
I am one of the forum moderators in there and I do patch bioses with a tool from one of the other moderators.
I know there's another tool that can also patch in support for higher multipliers and sometimes newer CPU cores, that one is from rom.by
There's no 100% success rate with that however.
