The machine I'm using now has 17 TB of storage (16 TB (4x4) RAID 0 SAS HDD + 1 TB (2x1) RAID 1 SATA SSD).

(Yes I know I'm living dangerously using RAID 0, but everything on that array is backed up elsewhere, so if/when it dies, no big deal.)

Plus a lot of offline USB storage (Drobos, USB HDDs). I don't know how much here, but over 30 TB.

Is this too much voodoo?

I'd love to find a 1989 CDC/Imprimis WrenRunner 5.25" FH SCSI drive, 330MB, 5400 RPM and very fast access times again - it was the fastest HDD 30 years ago. (It was so fast that MFM/RLL drives almost felt like floppies in comparison

I have exactly one of those, in a working condition. It is an excellent drive. Model 94171-376.

It spins at 3600rpm, it has a stack of 9 platters if I remember correctly. It pulls serious amps when it speeds up and takes some time to rev down when power is turned off. It has a spindle brake, but it only cuts in after a while when speed drops below a certain point.

It is a voice coil drive and seeks really fast. Sounds lovely.
