Hi,

i run a Athlon X2 4000+, and tried to upgrade the RAM to 12Gb.
But regardless what i do i can only get 2x1Gb and 2x4Gb running. (dual channel)
Using 2x2Gb instead the 1Gb causes Board not booting and entering bios is freezing.

Also 1x4Gb and 3x2Gb is working fine (no dualchannel)

Is the nforce chipset limited to 10Gb RAM ?

The Elitegroup MCP61SM-AM states it supports 4Gb only.

Thanks

Matthias

Athlon64+ had an IMC.. so max RAM depends on cpu, not the chipset (at least in theory) but... mobo vendors didn't put all the traces, so you could end up having less addressable space.
Anyway, most AM2 mobos had 8GB max.

I guess that is the case that the mobo vendor not laying all the traces.
But in the case of this motherboard from the same vendor
