Hi everyone, just noticed a thread over there at vcfed.org -> http://www.vcfed.org/forum/showthread.php?69372-Mouse-for-XT

This makes mew wonder, is a bus mouse less demanding than a serial mouse ?

the thing is that both bus mouse and ps/2 mouse uses a chip that's constantly polling the bus to see changes in the mouse movements. a serial mouse depends on the processor to do so, effectively being a little bit more demanding

Oh. thanks for the feedback. Bus mice were a bit before my time, so I liked to know. 😊
By the way, maybe you know this, too - Is the bus mouse controller polling only or also using interrupts ?
If so, is it also as "interrupting" as much as the 8250/16450 FiFOs do or rather comparable to the less frequently interrupting 16550 ?

Why I ask..: I believe there are Atari ST to Serial Mouse adapters out there (uC based)..
So would like to know if it would make sense to rebuild a bus mouse controller card, but with a built-in Atari/Bus mouse converter.
Once workingn, on the mouse side, the same serial-PS/2 hybrid mice could be used as with the other RS232-to-PS/2 projects.

these things are a bit outside my knowledge, maybe someone will answer the question better

That's okay, don't worry. Thanks, for the reply, also. I'm just curious, but don't know either.
