I am trying to set up a sound card in an ibm ps/1 but I am having trouble finding an available port address.
The com ports and parallel port are onboard but i don’t know what addresses they use. I tried to install with these devices disabled but that did not help and the sound cards will no work without the dma ports being available.
I tried a couple sound cards already with no success. I have the same problems with all of them in that
The sound cards could not be found in ports 210 thru 280.

The sound cards work in this ibm ps/1 if i use windows 95 but not in dos or win311.
The problem has to do with the port address.

Any ideas ?

What address do they use under Windows 95 to work properly, and which sound card did you try exactly ?

You should be able to check the device manager under Windows 95 to check which addresses are set to the serial/parallel port.
