So my SE440BX has this BIOS version:
intel-mobo1.jpg
intel-mobo-2.jpg
I checked on intel site the release notes but dont say about coppermine CPU update. https://downloadmirror.intel.com/3519/eng/RNOTE171.pdf
My mobo dont have OEM logo at booting, only the Intel one.
I dont have a good floppy drive to update the BIOS. The 6.0 will be enough to use coppermine with 100 FSB + slotket?

Retro rig 1: Asus CUV4X, VIA c3 800, Voodoo Banshee (Diamond fusion) and SB32 ct3670.
Retro rig 2: Intel DX2 66, SB16 Ct1740 and Cirrus Logic VLB.

That's the BIOS version I have, and it works with coppermine.

You can tell what cpu clock you use in the motherboard?
I have here celeron 900, P3 700 and P3 1GHz. All are 100mhz fsb.

The BX-3 is the "OEM" motherboard for the likes of gateway, Dell. The BX-2 is the "official" Intel board which is why you don't have any logo's
If you don't have a floppy, you can use a HDD, just make sure you bypass the startup files by pressing Shift F5. (that's all the boot disk is doing)

Although I'd recommend a Gotek if your messing around with old PC's. Even if its just the 1 drive you install temperately for times like this.
Even with the standard firmware they are useful for troubleshooting.

In order to support coppermine you also need to have specific hw revision of the board. More info here: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel/SE440BX-2.html

MIne is a later revison of 754552-200? 754552-303 and the Bios has the P17
