And some Matrox graphics card, complete with memory expansion daughterboard.
And a SCSI CD recorder.

Overall, that price isn't high.

There's a pretty fancy sound card in it, rest doesn't seem overly interesting to me.

Asus motherboard with PLB and a TagRAM socket - probably a late revision P55T2P4, which is pretty much the ultimate Intel chipset So7 board. Add the tag and it can cache 512MB RAM, if it's as late revision as it looks, it can run K6-2 or 3 without modification. Probably can do 83MHz FSB too, so you can run that K6-2 at 500MHz (83.3x6=500)

Hmmm I had (and still have) 2 of these ( 3.0 and 3.10) for sale and no one cared on Amibay...Good to know it probably can run a K6-2

3.10 definitely can. Looking at your Amibay pics, the one in this machine is the 3.10, so as good as they come. Just checked and with an unofficial modded BIOS it can handle K6-2+ and 3+, and support HDD >32GB

Would a K6-2 450 work? I think I have this one in my spares.
But first I need to socket the Dallas RTC chips.
I might try to sell them again too.Enough socket 7 stuff...

K6-2 450: sure. Set it to 6x75MHz (jumper for 2x multiplier) for correct clock and good performance. With an L2-less K6-2, you really want that tag ram (any 12ns SRAM should do) to be able to cache >64MB.

ha, I was interested because of this gold-plated soundcard, but was not aware what model it is or what value it has (in terms of rare not the $ ). I lost the auction / it was not worth to bid so high, but good to know what card it was. I was thinking it was china low quality product...

Why? I mean, it’s rare and looks pretty feature-rich and high quality, but what makes it ultimate?

Terratec's great build quality, CS4232 Crystal Codec, onboard Dream SAM Wavetable Synth with Chorus/Reverb, 4MB Sample ROM with real Roland SoundCanvas soundfont, Wavetable Header for secondary MIDI, Bugless MPU-401, absolutely fantastic sound quality.

It only lacks decent FM synthesis, but so does the GUS *shrug* you can always add a second card with OPL3 for just that purpose.

It's my unicorn. I really hope to own one some day.
